Especially Elgar,

If your so against it, don't support decal. Adding in the 5 min afk for El Tank is pretty honerable, after 3 years of having a public macro program.

Flame away, no sorry post from me!

because maybe programmers are the only ones who actually see a negative result of the action.

software engineers especially are well aware (or should be) of their actions.

most software engineers are payed a lot of money to evaluate systems and to do analysis before actually implementing a project

because of this, many can see problems before they actually become problems.

Most of the decal developers saw a problem in wide-spread automated combat WAY before it was actually a reality.

That is why many programmers are anti-macro.

Damn, where to begin poking holes into that post?

Well first, I don't think that Elgarl is "anti-macro", I think he had to "bow down" a little to the rabbid anti-macro Devs just so he could get the inside scoop to keep his program working and updated as quickly as possible. As for the 5 minute timer, it is such that if you really want to bypass it, you can.

Now, back to Draks comments, I'll just say it like this ...

Just because you a member of the "l337" crew of Decal Devs doesn't mean that others can't see the effects of macroing on the game. To say otherwise goes BEYOND arogant.

Fact of the matter is, a portion of the Devs don't know the true effect of anything they do on the game, just as Turbine doesn't know the true effect of what they add to the game. The simple fact is that Decal Devs have OPINIONS, and one of those opinions is that macroing is bad. Others don't share their OPINIONS, but that doesn't mean that their OPINIONS are any less valid.

If it wasn't time for me to go home, I may enter into the downward spiral of how UCMing actually helps the casual player afford salvage by driving the player economy price way down. When Decal wasn't working, the price of Jet rose to near insane prices ... 40-50 MMDs a bag at times, well beyond price for the average casual player. Now with macros and people Pharming Jet and other salvage, prices are WAY DOWN, and now even the casual player can afford it.

Same goes with XPs and guild/public tinkerers. It takes BILLIONS and BILLIONS of XPs to make a quality tinkerer. Without macroing, that would be impossible for the casual player, and even hard for the hard core player. Now, people who log in for 2-5 hours a week can reap the rewards of a good tinker.

Oh well, I'm off to home. Feel free to present the "downside" of what I said ... such is everyone OPINION ... but just remember, don't pass your ideas off as FACT.
