Subject: Linksys router causing log in Probs? any help appreciated
just got a Linksys wireless-G 2.4 ghz router.

Have 2 systems hard lined to it. One with xp home and other with xp pro.

Had netgear router previous to this.

I can log in and get blue on connect/but when i get to update progress, it sits and never goes blue for a minute then i get booted to lost server connect screen.

happens on both systems, so i am assuming it's the router.

does anyone know of any known issues like this with linksys? do i have to specify different ports or something? am lost....

How is this a "Utilities" issue?

BTW... I've used 2 netgears, and am currently using the Linksys WRT54G and have no problems

These ports need to be open

I had that problem for awhile (using an older linksys router) but only if I used a server shortcut. Then it went away so I never bothered to figure out why. Are you using a server shortcut?

Check your cordless phones. I bet they or anyone in your area using one could be the main cause.

People seem to forget that these run on the same ranges of cordless phones.

Try connecting the box directly to modem and see if it still has the same issue. It may not be the router but instead your ISP using NAPT vice NAT. AC doesn't work with NAPT.

BTW, what is your modems make and model and who is your ISP? Had a few friends that had DSL service and a SpeedStream modem that recently had the same issues.

Also make sure you have the most recent version of the Firmware for your router.

The newest Linksys firmware has issues with AC. Unfortunatly installing the newest version prevents you from going back to an older working version.

" How is this a "Utilities" issue? ? "

My guess is that if posts like,

"Microsoft is letting anyone download Visual C#/Basic/C++/J# Express editions free for a year!"

are ok , because you use them to make plugins, then questions about routers should be ok too.
All these nifty plugins are worthless if you can't get AC online to use them.

** Disclamer **
The above reply is intended solely as humor based my twisted view of the world.

I had a ( ) day at work today.
My boss pulled me aside today to show me that 4,500 parts I made last week were rejected.
He waits until after my heart stops to tell me that it wasn't my fault, the engineer who rerouted the work to my department transposed 2 digits on the length.

As a result instead of the assemblies having fins cut to 19.970", they were cut to 19.790".
Since we only had enough material left on hand to remake half the fins, half the order will ship late.
A fact he kept reminding me of, because, after all, I was the one to cut the first order, and used most of the stock up, even though they are to the specs I was given.

Time to kill a few braincells, and to visualize his face on some of the attackers in GW.
That usually makes me feel better. LOL

Version 5 of the WRT54G Linksys router has problems with ac. I just had same problem. I took it back and had to search for about 20 boxes to find a version 4.
