If you download it before November 6, 2006 you can keep it, it does not expire, it just will not be downloadable.
Also SQL Server Express 2005 is a free download with no termination date.
This is great for anyone looking to develop Decal plugins, or just learn how to program.

Cool.. just what I was lookin for. Now, where do I get Decal Programming for Dummies? Also, for someone that hasn't programmed anything since QBasic... which would be the best to start in? I've got an idea for a "simple" plugin, but don't have the first clue on where to start.

If you are planning to write any .Net compatable plugins, this is definately a way to go. It however is not complete enough to create as distribution files (.msi) Other tools would have to be used for that.

I copied and pasted a line from a reply I got on another thread, attempting to be funny. I could pose the arguement that is IS off topic, and take one of many tangents with it.. but I'm not really in that kinda frame of mind today. Besides, if I want to purposely tick off a mod, I'd wait for something I could really have some fun with. 
I actually went and downloaded a couple of these tools myself, ty for posting the link.
Seeing as I have virtually no programming experience, this could be fun.
I can't write a macro script, but I can take someone else's and heavily modify it to suit me. ( well can't is the wrong word, I never tried from scratch )
I can't do HTML from memory, but again I can look at examples, and do my own pages, if needed.
I can't program, but I can point and click, so I figgure with Visual Basic I should be able to do well enough to totally freak up my computer.
SO far I have a window that pops up when I click an icon, and my computer doesn't crash... Later I`ll try and make it do something. I'm thinking try and figgure out how to add buttons, and link them to something, possibly games on my computer, just to see if I can figgure it out.
Then when I get frustrated and am too lazy to do a little research, I`ll probally end up crashing my computer. Which is ok with me, since I've been crashing machines for years. =)

If you have to ask such questions, are you sure you're ready to develop a plugin?
it's not like building a webpage where you just install Frontpage or something and then WYSIWYG it until you get something that works.
Building a plugin takes programming knowledge in at least 1 specific language.
By you asking that question it would be my understanding that you do not know any of those languages.
Learn a language first, THEN attmempt a decal plugin as a project once you've actually learned the language and done something OTHER than decal with it.

first thx for the reply's and second you guys are right..im not skilled in any language yet, ive just been fooling around in vb6 and making some small app (not ac ones) but i thought that i might aswell d/l these programs while they are still free.
Im also starting to look at c++ some so i was just wondering if one off the programs would be most likely to be supported with the new decal. thx again

If you're just learning, I would personally suggets VB.NET or C# (if you plan on using C++ or Java ever)
C# is very Java-like and it uses C-type syntax, where VB.NET is a little more VB6 ish (but not the same).
I personally like C# a LOT. I would HIGHLY recommend it to anyone learning a new language.
All of the languages listed above CAN do Decal plugins (with the possible exception of J#... but I'm not sure).
So ultimately, for plugin creation, it doesn't matter which you use.. I'd recommend getting them all just to have them... but for sure I feel C# is one of the better ones, and C++ after that. (I don't personally like VB.NET)

i wonder... how hard would it be to make a simple chat program where it basically just asks for a user name and when they type it the chat doesn't really use a server program but say a notepad file instead that it writes/refreshes to chat window every few mins.. kinda like a tag board? meh hard to explain what i mean.
