First public release will be via #acdev as usual. We do NOT believe this version will be usable by end-users until plugins are modified. We will release it as soon as we have minimal functionality (ie, basic hooks are all found and all basic display functionality works)

For developers that are looking ahead, search your code for calls to QueryMemloc. That method is going away. Please let us know what you are using it for and we'll make sure to have alternatives in place.

Okay, I lied... We won't ALWAYS make sure an alternative is available.... Windows 9x is no longer supported, and even more specifically those memlocs will no longer exist.

If standard mouse support works due to change in how AC handles mice (we don't know if this is true or not), then 9x MIGHT work, but we are spending ZERO effort in trying to support 9x.

None of my plugins require QueryMemlocs, but they do rely on functions that use them via ACHooks. Specifically SelectItem, ItemSelectedEvent, and ObjectDeleted. Will They be ok? They seem pretty basic calls.

Currently we expect all methods in ACHooks to be available. Since how specific memlocs usage may change we will be providing access to them through ACHooks so that the implementation can change without breaking plugins.

ACTool also open source. In addition to the Win9x mouse memlocs, it uses these 3:

PrevRequest (aka ItemBusyState)
RootViewKeyTarget (aka ChatState)
PointerWidth (aka PointerState)

PointerWidth is probably the most needed, since change in cursor state is used to determine completion of spell casting, tinkering, alch/cook/fletch actions.

Robochef uses a similar method for craft interaction completion detection using ACHooks.PointerState and BusyState, but no QueryMemlocs. Loot Tracker has no memlocs. Both programs read and act on raw packets via net_echo.

catching events: OnSelectItem, ObjectDestroyed, OnCommandLineText, OnToolText
using properties: CurrentSelection, ChatState, ItemIsKnown

We have the Decal Status thread to STOP the ETA posts.. not to get more of them.

As I have said.. We do NOT have an ETA. We will NOT have an ETA. We have no estimates because there is no measurable way to MAKE an estimate. so PLEASE stop asking. When we have status, it will be in the Status thread which has been stickied.

We really are trying to make it sooner than later. Believe me, we aren't intentionally holding anything back, or delaying the release because we're sick and twisted and like to watch people squirm. We're doing everything in our power to get it done as quickly as possible.

I'm going to put this part in caps in case some people can't read it very well..

No QueryMemlocs in UST or Zyrca Bot (or private plugins)

Suggest if/when ImpFilter is updated that you base on 2.9.0.5 instead of the 2.9.0.8 if possible, as the latter had some bugs not present in the former.

Gouru, you stated there won't be support for Win9x ... but AC specifically calls out Win98SE as a viable OS platform for the game. Many of us use these older OS to run our bots on - will this mean we will need to upgrade these machines after the new version is released? Just wondering, because if I have to upgrade that machine, I'll get on it now while everything is still in process happy

Yeah, AC will still run fine with Win9X machines, however Decal MAY have some issues with it.

If the upgrade is readily available for you, i would do it.

On a Win9x system, Decal and plugins may or may not work. If it works for you then that is good. Otherwise you may not be able to use Decal or just maybe not be able to use certain plugins. Castaway works for some people on Win9x system, it doesn't for others.

Well, I'd tell you how they're used, but it's not my plugin. The source comes with the download, though - I assume you have Visual Studio 6. Skunkworks website here. I'm not asking you to take a look at it (I know you're busy), merely saying it's there if you want it. I don't think Greg (the plugin author) still plays AC any more, though I could be wrong.

You are correct, it is also specifically called out as viable for DirectX9. You can play AC with DirectX9 on a Win98 or later machine.

Decal specifically lists Win9x (Windows 95 through Windows ME) as NOT supported. So you cannot play with Decal on those operating systems. Well technically you could try, but if it doesn't work, it isn't supported and will not be fixed.

I noticed when playing with the help ksml files that I can drag the help screens out of the 3D area. (it is even present on the character select screen) Will Decal under ToD be similar, where plugins could be placed over what was 2D areas?

I believe #acdev is on EFnet, though it's been awhile since I stopped working on my plugins and visiting there. And anyhow, the version they relese there will probably only be of value to plugin developers trying to get their plugins ready for a beta or final release; most likely it will be too buggy for mass consumption.

Ascus, we haven't determined that finally yet.

One method we used allowed dragging over the formerly 2D areas (there aren't any 'true' 2d areas anymore), another method did not. So for now, we don't know.

OK..so I come on here looking for some kind of a update on decal....cause I love and depend on decal as much as the next guy....

And I see all these new posts where people are bashing the devs and not playing, and seeming to be spending all their time on the VN boards bashing decal devs, and NOT PLAYING the awesome game (That took me about 3 minutes to set up a spell bar to buff/bane myself, and 2 more that contain slash/bludge and fire/light respectively..along with stam to man, heal, etc.) ,that all us old tumers love and respect, and relalize that no other game will ever have the feel of AC....AMEN BROTHER) that we ALL love, and I am having the best time of my 4 year AC career, due to the new content, and the WAY CRAZY potential of the new stuff...(gotta love it happy .)

I want Decal back as much as everyone else, and it will be back...in one form or another...ACM,UCM,MFPOS, I could care less......you play the game your way, I will play it mine.

Just chill out......decal will be back better than other.....as long as Turbine don't shite-can AC due to low server numbers, (due to lack of Decal API support, IMHO, which is scarily the dog they are looking to lay the demise of AC on?) Just let these guys do their stuff....

You who are antagonizing (constructively, in most cases cept for ol' whats-her name wink )
chill, and watch what happens..you will be some of the 1st to apologize and lay down the lame excuses why you could'nt play.....all the while, unknowingly, laying yet another brick in the wall of the foundation of 'Why AC should be shelved, Turbine confidential'

Kiersiege: sounds to me like you know nothing about the channel or the people in it.... more specifically me. I'm not going to get into it, because this isn't the place, but to make blanket statements like that are just untrue generalizations.

If you had bothered to hang out in channel for more than a day, you could get a feel for the devs there and how the channel is run.

As I meantioned above, the reason we don't want the server/channel posted to the VNBoards is because then we get every single person who is even remotely interested in Decal joining and pestering us. We get enough of that here, we don't need it in the channel as well. With enough people, it becomes difficult to manage, and we spend more time doing channel management than actual DECAL work.

Also as I meanted before, the people who cannot find it on their own are not the kind of people we want the Beta Decal in the hands of. People who cannot find the channel unless told DIRECTLY where it is are not the kind of people that make good testers in our opinion. So we leave it up to the people who do a little leg work and can find it on their own. At least that satisfies one of the tests to be a Decal Tester.

As any Decal tester can probably tell you, Patch Day in ACDev gets VERY annoying and VERY bad. It is compounded by the fact that people feel it necessary to post the channel information here when we've asked them not to.

So if that makes me elitist, then fine, but don't claim to know anything that you're talking about when it comes to the Channel or the people in it.

accrazy: it's been posted before, but I'll post it again in case you hadn't read it..

the problems we're currently having are with the rendering engine in Decal. That code is 4 years old, and has remained pretty much untouched in that 4 years. It certainly hasn't changed since the last update to SourceForge. Pretty much the only thing that closeing the project has done is change the encryption of the memlocs and also to add things to DenAgent.

There is nothing preventing anyone from downloading, editing, and recompiling a new decal with an updated rendering engine, then submitting the changes to us. If people really wanted to go through the decal core and fix it to work, then by all means, they are welcome to do so since the code has remained pretty much untouched.

With that said, we are not specifically the only ones working on it. The core developers have actually asked some additional people to assist with the rendering changes, and some progress is being made with that. With that in mind, if you were really wanting to contribute, you can do as I suggested above, and also hang out in ACDev without getting in the way and asking "can I help" over and over again.

Make the changes.. tell us what you've found, and then we'll be more than happy that someone else has contributed something useful... until that happens, then we will just continue doing what we are currently doing.

On another note, the comment -WeMax- makes about attitudes strikes home with me too. 20 years ago when alot of us started programming, attitudes were the 'in thing'...nowadays, theres always way more someones thats a little smarter, a little younger, and a little wiser...(although just the opposite is true in a lot of cases)

Point being, this is the 1st time I have seen one of you say what you did about adding ideas and not being a pain in the arse...I've always gotten the impression that "We have the devs, we have the beta-testers, the rest of you piss-off"

I think a lot of people misinterpret what is said on the boards without knowing the people who are saying it.

I'm sure a lot of the stuff I say can be taken the wrong way, and come off the wrong way if you don't know who I am, or know anything about me. That is one reason I suggest just merely hanging out in ACDev. You can watch people and get a feel for them. (notice I didn't say come to ACDev and make a pain of yourself as some people like to do).

Getting to know the people behind the posts makes a lot of posts make more sense and give a better understanding of the Devs. Its hard to know someone just on some posts you've read.. especially when the posts are replies to insults, baiting, or otherwise VNBoards style.

Just a question out of curiosity, but are you developers having to use the dx9c sdk? It is my understanding that biggest hurdle to overcome is simply getting Decal to draw. I know there's a slim chance or I could be wrong altogether, but since we have a new engine and it partakes of dx9.0c, I thought I'd pass this information along on the slight chance that it may have been an oversight[though I greatly doubt so].

Drawing onto the screen is easy. Incredibly easy.

The problem is converting a rendering system based on DX6-DirectDraw to D3D, where many of the features are not directly compatible.

For example, Decal uses many GetDC() calls which is NOT compatible with A8R8G8B8 surfaces - because "GDI does not have a well defined behavior on the alpha channel." Of course, to use color keyed alphsa "blending" (transparency), you need A8R8G8B8 surfaces instead of X8R8G8B8 surfaces which work fine with GetDC(). This of course means we have to either convert our surfaces between two formats (which is incredibly expensive in terms of time) or redo the way Decal works behind the scenes (which takes a lot of code!).

This is in addition to the fact that we lost every single memloc, basically. The only part of AC that didn't change is the core networking layer - though the protocol numbers changed, the protocol is basically the same absent a new message type (packed DWORD).

Would it be more practical to say 'screw it' to alpha blending and go with opaque drawing? I understand that HUD plugins will look uglier that way, but if BS/2 works(example), then thats enough to release, IMO. Worry about alpha later if its holding you up AND you could have it working faster if you ignore it for now and work on it as time allows.

Buffing plugins and robochef-like plugins don't care about alpha.

It's all moot anyway, since memlocs aren't done. If the rendering was the only thing holding back a release, I would probably put out something that's ugly as sin so people can get their buffing plugins back.


Edit: The SF version is for all intents and purposes, exactly the same as current Decal code for everything but ACHooks. The only changes that have been made to Decal since we split have been mirrored to SF for the most part (and DLLs built from SF will work if you use our Decal.dll for ACHooks). Though SF doesn't have any TOD related code.



I don't think people realized how much back end work was needed; Checksum and I had to figure out the new DAT file stuff, then figure out what the new formats were. There are a lot of changes to the actual image formats. This is stuff that needed to be done before we could even work on Decal. Just like kgober had to find all the packet changes before we can incorporate them into Decal... there is research involved, not just coding.

This is basically converting Decal to a *new* game. We have to redo all the old research on AC for TOD because so much changed... we are just lucky that there is shared code between AC2/MEO/TOD that we could use which aided this.

Which is really annoying for someone like myself who has developed in : Basic, Pascal, C, C++, Java, VB 6, VB .NET, C#, Javascript, Perl, C-Shell, VBS and has worked in development in various Unix flavors, Win32, COM/DCOM/COM+, pSoS, VxWorks, Symbian and CE but isn't familiar with IRC (or at least wasn't a year ago when I got the same arrogant answer as above).

I've hex edited games since Zork I and have extensive programming knowledge and yet somehow a lack of familiarity with an IRC channel disqualifies me???

Just an idea. But since Window'd mode is now a supported feature do we even need decal to be on the 3d part of AC? What about having it be an external window that can be put in the background when not needed. I have noticed that the new client now actually mutes the sound when not active and that the 3d playfield still updates when not the active window.

Just my little idea. Keep up the good work decaldevs.

Maybe it's me, but it seems to create more lag, and I'd just rather have 100% of my screen for looking at the game. Rarely do I use it, and mainly just to look up a quest or if I am macroing, troll the boards.

I think they're holding out for a certain level of functionality before they release decal for ToD. While they could probably get decal going quickly by avoiding rendering issues, that would break almost every single plugin. And since they're planning on eventually releasing a decal that can render on the screen, why make all plugin devs rewrite their plugins for a temporary fix, only to have rendering a few weeks down the road?

I am not saying that as a final option, but as a temporary stop-gap. It would be rather easy to alt-enter, interact with decal, alt-enter, go about your business for the fullscreeners until a better tranparent 3d solution.

We are currently looking at the possibility of a no-graphics release which would allow chat line control and display while we work on graphics. Major downside to this is there are VERY few plugins without graphics. Upside is that plugin developers could start verifying the program logic and calls of their plugins.

Beyond that point there are different graphics paths we can look at. External graphics is not a path we'll follow, the no-graphics release would handle that.

Depending on how we decide to proceed with graphics HUD displays may either be the first or last to show up after the no-graphics release.

That is awesome Gouru! The functionality is all anyone really needs right now anyhow. That would mean what? Editing XML or config files out of game and running say a buff program via a command line? I can deal with no graphics display release very happily, so long as I don't have to *remove* the GUI event handler code and such from the program. i.e. Robochef and LootTracker both have a lot of options and selections and I'd hate to have to disconnect them all. Its fine if they simply dont get called and don't get displayed(robochef already has chatline command capability, loottracker...well, lets not go there), but if every developer has to gut their plugin for no-display, that wouldnt be so hot.

So basically, I'm all for a release that lets me start dealing with the vast sweeping changes that loottracker is gonna need. Robo should work fine without display, but users are gonna have to learn the text commands (I'm sure MakeIt is in the same boat there). Navi III...well thats kind of pointless without a display, but I'm not even working on that yet.

I know at One time there was talk from Turbine about working with the Decal Team to make things run smoother.

From what I recall from the last time this was brought up, Turbine doesn't 'look' at the code (or use it/it's results) the same way as decal does. I think of it this way, the two groups look at the code but one see's apples and one oranges (even tho it's the same fruit).

Oh, and FWIW, Turbine has chatted with the decal people before, but due to legal restrictions they don't actively help decal in any way. And even if they decided to help with decal, they would be of little assistance, since decal deals with decompiled code and graphic injection--turbine has access to the source code, and so they have little use for decompilers and the like happy

Trust me, sometimes I have to remember the same thing. You get so used to Decal being there, month after month after month....

and then.... we're cut off cry , and not through any fault of the Decal Devs, but we expect them to pull off a miracle and tend to get more than a little impatient and snappy when it's not 'fixed' immediately, when from the sounds of things, we're looking at an extensive research/re-write/test/re-test type situation.

That would be great. If the lack of any one plug-in has reduced my playtime since ToD went live, it's U.S.T.(with loot tracking/IDing being second). It's such a huge annoyance to salvage without it.

BTW I did vote for U.S.T. it the "What plug-in do you miss most?" poll. It was under tinkering plug-ins I think.

I would have thought that this would allow you to use the old Decal DX6 rendering to the overlay plane in 5551 format (or whatever it was using) and let the graphics hardware merge the two images together.

Enabling the hardware overlay will have a small effect on the graphics card memory bandwidth - but not huge - probably unnoticable in reality.

I agree that the memory requirements for an overlay can be noticable - espcially if running on a minimum spec 32mb graphics card. However, I would be surprised if it hit performance significantly. It may just mean that those minimum spec machines have to run at a slightly lower resolution and at a lower texture resolution to maintain performance.

Anyway, keep up the good work and get decal working again soon - whatever method you choose to use!

Gouru, I for one am glad that you are communicating. While I would like to see a decal that has only a text intreface for Salvaging and Ensiten (Not being able to set vunls would suck but I could edit the XML to add all the new critters and the Vulns for them.) And that would hopefully get ACTool working agian so my TinkerBot would be back up. It's great that you are making progress and when/if we get this "no graphical" release to help get things debugged is good with me. Just ignore the people who are not taking the time to read (although I have been guilty of this I am reading then re-reading your posts so that I get the full understanding of it before responding.)

DID anyone ever ask you to be so rude all you have to do is say NO. but you have to keep making remarks just say NO.
If you feel so bad about not getting responses then quit working on it. if you are looking for praise i think a ton of people give the decal personnel praise.

There will always be people that miss read or fail to read something so instead of baiting or being rude to them with you own comments you could be the adult and just answer the question with a simple NO.

A few questions if I may...

Was my link for the dx dev's kit helpful at all?

I knew it was a shot in the dark, but having been in a supervisory postion over hundreds of people; I know sometimes even the most simplistic solution can be overlooked.

Also, is it not possible for Turbine to compile the memlocs under a constant algorithym?

It seems to me that the compilation process is a bit dated and could better serve the community if the compilation process took a more logical route. I realize that Turbine "sees" the code differently, but is not in the best interests of the AC community for Turbine to share a recompiled version of codes specifically for the decal dev team [under an NDA, with rights to work exclusively with the code within the decal window]?

I for one suggest that it's high time for Turbine devs and the Decal Devs to have a sit down and seriiuosly discuss the future of not only Asheron's Call but Decal as well. I forsee great things should the teams put their heads together and hammer some things out.

First off, Decal rocks. However, just thought about the amount and time that it would require someone to do everything that ToD has brought to the game,( yes, I know Turbine has said that they would like to see Decal working again, aka Support ) Turbine wrote the code in a way to allow for said people to enjoy the game w/o Decal. Or the Decal Dev's are being nice to those that dont use it... It's not a debate and I'm not looking for confirmation either way, was just a thought...LOL

I've said it a few times... Thanks for improving the hobby and the Herculean effort to help the majority of silent players while enduring the minority of people that are little more than noise.

I’d like the no graphics release, even if it delays a full-up version a bit. There are great many things we can do with that functionality (support, buffs, IDs, etc).

Not being a programmer, have you considered doing the information display and plugin controls as separate windows outside of the game and to manipulate them and run AC in windowed mode? (Sorry if the was posted above and I missed it)

Krackcode, sorry I didn't respond earlier, I thought the answer was kind of obvious, but since you took the time to repeat the question.

No, we aren't using the DX9 libraries, actually since we believe in NEVER using the right tool for the job, we have also stopped using a compiler and instead we're hex editting the changes directly. We realize this may slow down the release a little, but the true art of programming lies in using the right size wrench to pound in the screw.

As for talking with Turbine about the future, where is the fun of that? Much better to keep a complete hands off attitude and be surprised along with everyone else when changes happen. I suppose you used to talk to your parents about what was in your presents before Xmas as well?

After reading up over the last couple of weeks, I understand why you respond the way you do. Stupid impatient questions would make me answer that way as well. NOW, I look forward to your posts. Considering we can now just invoke the command line parser so it's like you typed the text into it... we are probably not going to keep the billion of tell memlocs that aren't really necessary now.

IE, instead of sending a tell with Hooks->SendTellEx( "name", "message" ); you can use Hooks->InvokeChatCommand( "/t name, message" );

Woot, I was waiting for that option. It opens up lots of options for plugins. My personal one will be one that allows you to Zoom in to a target by changing Field of View.

To keep from breaking some older plugins, wouldn't it make sense to keep Hooks->SendTellEx( "name", "message" );, which would then just make an internal call to Hooks->InvokeChatCommand( "/t name, message" ); ?

That would keep the calls to the client simpler, and yet not break old apps as much...

Yes, since everything is broken anyway there's no real point in keeping compatibility.

BTW, the /render fov option does not actually function as far as I know (in TD). AC sure looks weird at FOVs greater than 360 though (from back when I had the FOV memloc in pre-TD AC).

What are the chances of Arrow Cam working? With most of the memlocs gone, that plugin will likely be a casuallty

Plus I believe ArrowCam followed the arrow. A simple FOV change can occur prior to the shot.

Zifadel, we can do that. Of course, you would also no longer be able to detect any monsters, objects or loot. Sixth Sense, BS/2, Find It would be totally broken. Buffers no longer would know what objects are in your pack that need buffing. All of this (including spells and players) all come from the CreateObject packet. We stop that packet from getting to plugins, two things will happen. 1) All the legitimate plugins that use that packet will break and b) the 'bad' plugins will use their own packet sniffer to catch CreateObject.

We've explored 'conditionally' passing packets to the client (the first time we successfully broke admin alarms, this is how we did it), but it doesn't take long for this type of change to be worked around.

IMHO, a MUCH better way here would be for Turbine to take a stand. Ibn, srand and Zyrca all came out against admin alarms, even though it was not in the CoC, so we felt okay about breaking them. If the CoC would change to outlaw them, as well as more clearly explain what levels of automation are 'okay' and which are not, then we could start driving the plugins that break the CoC underground.

Even the blocking of Admin alarms had problems if recall correctly. The initial version Chat Crayon came ending up blocking the text of admin messages so people never saw them. As a result a couple people were banned when they did not reply to Admin tells. Chat Crayon is not even remotely associated with Macroing.

If, CreateObject message was blocked, All of my plugins would break. It is the cores of making all plugins work. World Filter is great, but it does not have all the information that my plugins use. DCS uses it for determining color; Thirdeye for finding mobs, NPC and "freindly" players; Ascus uses it for finding portals, lifestones and housing; and Buzzard uses it for corpses.

Even the message and flags that tells when a player changes PK state, would break Thirdeye. It uses these messages to determine when to remove PK and PKLs that are not in your alliance from the display or add them back on the display, when the PK or PKL flags are cleared. Without it PK and PKL players would be visable. If all players where blocked you could not use it to track people in your group.

Care needs to be taken when information is blocked by Decal. Some plugins use this information for good purposes.

Could you not block/filter out a specific set of GUID's? I'm not entirely sure how Turbine identifies objects, but most certainly mob's would have entirely different sets of ID #'s then players would, no?

Krackcode, that falls under my 'conditionally passing packets' in my message above.

Ascus, IIRC (which I may not), the one we put in did NOT break plugins, since the message was never given to them. It was passed unchanged to the AC client which put it out to the normal text area. Turbines first attempt to stop Admin alarms (after ours) changed a packet format, which I believe is what broke Chat Crayon and um...Bandit Chat? They later made another change to make Screen Scraping of the message much harder. Their active efforts to stop admin alarms is enough to outlaw them in my opinion, even if they are not specifically called out in the CoC.

hope all the work on decal is going well...i check daliy for an update on it to see what has been done and what is going on. i cant wait for the day when decal is back and the plugins work again.

i just hope that someone picks up Megellan 2 and makes it work again or still...i can not say how helpful i always found it to have the dungeon displayed on my screen in a hud. makes navigation so much easier.

I have trolled for a while, but now to say something.

I love what decal does for the game. It makes our Alleginace more organized and cnetralized, it also makes it easier ot chat. It has made it easier to find that item in the big pile of olthoi at your feet.

I have noticed, hoever, that while it started slowly since July 18th, more people are coming back, a ay doesn't go by that we hear a 'what's up?', followed by a 'OMG, it has been so long'. I have returned and play for me isn't much different without decal excpet I have re-equipped with items that buff me and I buff my own weapons. I also spend the extra minute to search the corpses in front of me for any items of ineterst.

Even if it takes until December I don't see AC dying, nor do I see interest in decal fading. I should note that I am an optimist and I think decal will be done at the latest by september. In the mean time I will do some hunting and I will use my level 38 to buff my clans with VIIs. It is fun to see the look on their faces when my 38 casts VIIS.

From what they've said, I suspect it won't be too much longer--few weeks, maybe a month. Pretty good turn around for a handful of people working on a hobby in their spare time. happy

However did they manage to play characters the first year or so without decal? Musta just stood around asking people for buffs and trying it figure out rotations one taper at a time. I guess for them it would be like trying to mow the grass with sizzors. Decal isa ride along, some of use jsut learned how to use a scythe :P

Just commenting on people wanting to beta test..

Beta testing will be almost useless if you are not a developer of a plugin at first, so even if you were to install the new decal eventually, all of your plugins would be broken.

Only the people with the source to those plugins will be able to develop and test their own code at first.

Best part of Decal been broken for so long, is the actual writeups of Asriel!! :-)

Wery interresting to get a "sneak peak" under the hood of Decal, and how it really is built/working.

Makes the whole oundertsanding of the challenges with memlocs and rendering fall into place :-)

i know 0 about most of this...only what i have read on here and the blogs on the other sites. but it just seems logical to me to instead of haveing decal draw itself into it's own window use a preexsisting one.

or maybe this would be too difficult to do.

any thoughts decal developers?

If I've been following along correctly (no guarantee of that), the entire screen of ac is drawn with D3D. No more 3d space/ 2d space. So I don't think it would make any difference which portion of ac they wish to draw on top of. Reread Asriel's frist writeup.

I am personally interested most in the create object message changes. Namely how the the Palette Information has changed (the stuff that was before the Location) which I use for DCS color detection and how ObjectFlags1 and ObjectFlags2 have changed.

Everyone wants what they like back.

I just want ACtrade, Ghud and 6s back. I juse 6S to find target critters when slighly off radar. I use Ghud cause Im a numbers freak. I cross buff using 2 comps 2 accounts so buff bots are useless to me. Id imagine there are a number of peeps who really miss buff bots. I miss marketplace. No I dont miss trading with live players who want 1000 points for a 10 point item who reply to "how much" with "make offer" hoping I will offer more than the item is worth. Others hate trade bots.

Sounds like we are quite a ways away. Just hope the patch doesnt mess up the progress made.

Edited listen to everyone else. They are spot on. It'll be done when it's done, and until then, we'll continue doing what we're doing and attempting to fix it.

So stop asking, read the official Decal Information thread post that is stickied at the top of this board, and wait patiently for our post when we say it's done. Your kinds of post aggrivate us and take up un-needed time when the answer has been posted perfectly well by COUNTLESS other people, and you could have found it on your own without even asking if you had done a little READING on these forums (as your question has been answered already).

And, yes, we looked at the possibility.

Although in someway it would be theoretically possible (and I would not be surprised to see TPAs using that someday), it does NOT easily connect to Decal.

Just first wanted to say thanks to all the decal devs. I'm happy to see the latest in the update thread about a possible upcoming framework for managed code so an added thanks to Mekle and parad0x for working on this. Thanks Gouru for the answer. I kinda figured that Decal could use it, i just thought since it already is something that draws into the game that it would be easy to draw things in it. just wonder how hard it would be or if it would make since to have a translator program run inbetween...i dont really know just kinda just asking...in a nice way.

Indeed I have held down full time jobs since I was 16. Most in the tech business.. I had ONE job once as a pizza chef for Pizza Hut, but that was only for a few months and was my first job. After that, all my jobs have either been in development or support of some kind.. started out doing technical support, and was quickly promoted to the top of my team (just below management, because I don't want to be a manager, I want to be a technician!). After I moved from that state, I got another job doing development for software for a large insurance company in New England (Unum Provident). After I moved from that state to another state, I got a job at Microsoft, first doing software building (I built the whole build system that the particular product used) and then when that was complete, I held another position as a software tester (which I didn't much like because there was no human interaction). I switched jobs over to a small startup called MusicNet where I did development of their products, and also provided Developer Support (technical support for developers trying to use our SDK). I finally moved from that state to California where I now do Web Development for a large Networking company.

I'd say I've had my fair share of jobs, but I've been at the top of my game and teams in almost every single job I've held. If you think I don't have what it takes, and no one would hire me, then you truely don't know me. If you think I get upset in person a lot, then you're mis-reading what I'm typing. I'm a very calm person. I don't hate people. I don't hold grudges (for long) unless you've done something to personally hurt me (I don't hold grudges much for Internet stuff... it's useless).

And last but not least.. isn't everyone allowed to get mad once in a while? I think so. I also think that some readers here don't know how to research answers themselves, or know how to read beyond the first post in threads. I don't think that is my problem to have to solve. I don't want to have to spoon feed the board population. If people are too idiotic to figure things out based on the countless posts that have been made about it, then I think people have the right to point them in the direction however possible (whether it be making fun of them, laughing at them, yelling at them, whatever). If you're going to be lazy, idiotic, and not read, then I'll be rude, short, and call it what it is.

fyi.. the caps were totally un-needed.. I think you're reading some extra drama into the post where there really isn't any. I was simply explaining how there have been NUMEROUS posts which have been trimmed and people haven't been able to read all the crap we've had to explain to over and over and over again.

I've been down that long road with ya, I've done hardware electronics repair since I was 13 yrs old. 24 yrs later I have a great job as a govt contractor and never look back!

Gouru is still on vacation. Drakier I think is on a trip somewhere; I'm not sure (before he left he was working on some of the internal tools used to automate some of the memlocs processing each month; the old tools were inadequate to deal with some of the memlocs in the new AC:ToD client's very-highly-object-oriented design).

Between Hazridi, Paradox and Mekle, work is proceeding on the new ACHooks, fixing the CharacterStats filter, implementing the .NET hosting framework, and on finishing the job of breaking Decal compatibility.

That last bit is important. The goal is to make the new Decal so completely incompatible with the old, that it is possible to add backward compatibility back in again when we're done. As things were, we were in a middle-state. Not compatible with the old Decal, yet just compatible enough that the old Decal (or anything resembling it) could never co-exist with the new Decal.

That is, we're making sure the new Decal is *NOT* incompatible with any compatibility/translation layer anyone might want to add in later, by removing all possible conflicts that might prevent the two from coexisting on the same machine (for the technically-minded, we're changing CLSIDs and IIDs so that the old CLSIDs and IIDs can be assigned to a new DecalCompatibility module, should someone be inclined to work on it later).

With Hazridi's help, I have been trying to track down some messages.xml bugs that Gouru found while working on the WorldFilter updates.

It's actually been QUITE a while since anyone has actually said WHEN they expect to have decal working.....

Just a GUESS is all I ask or just LIE to me LOL

The game has become so much of a hassle w/o decal that it's almost no fun to play anymore

If you consider this spam......I am sorry but i HATE message boards.....and damn sure HATE checking them every day...just to find out that there's no news( honestly i throw majors away/give them away rather than come to the message boards more than once to try and auction them)
