Okay, here goes;
I had one sister who was 5 when I arrived in my home and a little brother that came into the family 11 months after myself. We moved once my entire school career, and stayed in the district when we did so. I grew up slightly pudgy, but lost most of that when I discovered soccer and a year later swimming.
I would not classify my childhood as a perfect happy go lucky childhood. I had that unfortunate combination of intelligence and naivete that made me a perfect target for bullies. I got into my first fight when I was in 3rd grade, which I lost. There were subsequent fights, but the one that finally ended it happened in fifth grade. Long story short I pushed a kid off the monkey bars and he broke his arm. Rumor spread that I broke it before he fell(I was the tallest kid in school at this point) and I was left alone after that.
Middle school sucked. I had come into what I viewed as maturity early and wasn't interested in the day-week long relationships so I got labeled as a loner. There were more bullies that I dealt with as best I could, eventually finding the way to disarm all of them.
In highschool I continued my soccer and swimming until 10th grade when I broke my leg in the offseason between the two. I was sledding down a wooded hill and my leg caught on a branch, I kept going and the next thing I remember I was in the hospital with a cast on and felt like happy. My leg healed well enough that I played my junior year as 3rd keeper for the varsity team, then at the end of the season I played a game and got into a tackle that screwed up the same leg, I don't remember exactly what happened or what it was called but it was related to my breaking my leg the year before. Also during the season was fired by the school as a teacher for being a few weeks late with his paper work involved with keeping up with his education. He subsequently resigned from his coaching position in the middle of the season, explaining that he felt betrayed by the school district and could not reconcile himself towards doing anything for them. That friday morning both the girls and boys varsity and junior varsity teams showed up in 'Wyckoff' shirts to protest his being fired. He was a popular teacher and by noon nearly every student in the school was wearing one. We went through acts of civil disobedience and, marking the only time I've ever heard of this happening, the school board agreed to review his status and took him back on 'probation'. He returned to coach us, but the season had already been ruined we took 7th in the conference tournament, lost in the first round of hte state playoffs and finished a 10 year worst 8-8-4.
Back to swimming and my leg.
This time I was ready to return to the pool before the season was over but I had lost almost everything and was swimming about 5 seconds slower per length. I quit swimming and began training myself for my senior year of soccer.
While all this was going on I dated one girl, and it turned out that she was stealing from my savings for a trip to france so I dumped her and in doing so managed to ruin her entire families christmas, I've already posted this story so you'll have to look back about three months to find it.
Senior year of highschool rolled around, I was in the best shape of my life and I easily made the varsity team, but a new keeper had moved in and Wyckoff could not decide which to play. I eventually won out at the end of the season and marched the team through the final stretch of the conference season, allowing only three goals in 6 games on ~60 shots on goal. We similarly marched through the first two rounds of the conference tournament mercying one team 12-0 and outscoring our opponents 18-1. Then we played our cross town rivals, a team we had not beat in the post season in nearly a decade.(last win had come when we won regionals against them at their field.) We were nervous and the game started out with us behind the ball and them pressing hard. It came to a point when our defender in frustration tackled too hard and a PK was called. I don't remember all of the PK, I know the shot came, I know I when right, I know it touched it and I know I saw it lying in front of me, a Holland player about to score the goal. I dove on it and took the kick in the ribs. I get up, painfully and see everyone kind of standing around except my brother blitzing for the midfield, I put out the most beautiful punt I've ever done and the ball lands over his shoulder perfect for him to control. He easily beat their keeper and scored the first of three goals in what I consider the happiest night of my life.
I work in a factory during the summers boxing up cubicle walls. My hobbies include posting on ACF, playing poker for fun and profit, and writing fiction, bad fiction.
I trust in logic and analysis to a fault, and wish everyone would behave logically. That being said I have one of the messier desks you'll see, but *I* know where everything is.
