**This thread has been picked as a Legacy post and will be preserved in our SC sticky thread. This Post will be unlocked, bumped, and re-locked at the end of every month to ensure its' long life.
He has been known by many names: Cilix, xilic, azu jai, ..... but most recently you would know him as Stupefied, to many of us he was just known as friend. He was a passionate gamer and always fun. In RL he was the same and always willing to do whatever someone needed.
Dec 25, 2004 Stupefied died in a car accident. I don't know the specifics yet, but I felt there needed to be a post to let people know, as VN (and AC) were such a large part of his gaming.
I knew him IRL before AC and I know I will miss him. I am sure many here will as well. He was a great guy and the loss will be felt by many for sometime. Rest in peace, my friend. I feel honored to have known you for the short time I was able.

This is so horrible, young kid, right after Christmas. Myself, mom, and my sister all met him in Florida last year. What a wonderful guy. He brought me my drink, just goes to show you how considerate of others he was. I talked to him when I was down there and different times online, and he was just one of those people who really really listened. Stup wouldn't hurt a fly. I'm going to miss him very much. My condolences to Apollo who I know was very close to him in RL.

I am hesitant posting here like I said before
I do not want to trivialize this situation or my friend's life in anyway.
But some of you truely deserve to know.
He was driving back to our apartment after spending christmas with his family. (The rest is police speculation). Something happened causing his 2 right tires to go off the road. He either over compensated after that or the oncoming car was in his lane or in the middle of the road. Both cars were going 50-70 mph and they believe that he died on impact and didn't suffer at all.
Tod never had ill will toward a single person that I have ever known and I Know him better than most anyone. He loved to help people. He was not afraid to die and he knew he was going to heaven. I know he is in a better place. He was my little brother from a different mother. And I will miss him; the whole world should miss him.
Again, about flowers and mailing things. DK or I will post as soon as we get solid information about it. I promise that.

I only knew Stupe through the vnboard and in ingame trades. He always presented himself as humble and life-loving guy.

I think the vast majority of you can figure out who I am. Since some wanker decided to 'permaban' me for calling him out on being the hypocrites that he is, and then leaving the position... I am now resorting to this to post on this thread.
Apollo, I don't see how you informing people makes light of the situation. It doesn't. I think people have a natural amount of curiosity when things like this happen. As stupid and moronic as this may sound, what you did at least gives the people that deserve to know some sense of finality and verification that this isn't some f'ked up joke. (Not that I know DK well enough to assume that it was or wasn't...but when I come home to two IM's, then your post..yeah.)
I thought I was really past the whole "Well, that'll never happen HERE" kind of mentality after my dad died unexpectedly. Guess not. Despite my beef with the AC community at large, AC was always pretty much a happy-go-lucky community...you never really heard about this kind of stuff. I remember the other Solclaim death a while back, but I hadn't ever spoken with the person, much less met them outside of the game.
Lemme tell a little story. When I acquired the Heart of Arrakis account, I had a secondary VN name set up for doing trades on that account so that people wouldn't know who the new owner was until I chose to say so. Stupe wasn't a mod, but he had access to a mod account and did an IP crosscheck to see who the new owner was. But the important part? He never brought it up on the boards. He knew why I was doing that through talking to Jen, and he never opened his mouth about it. And that's when I eased up off his case. Why? Because even though what he did was effectively abusing a mod account, he grasped one thing that most people around here just don't seem to ever understand: He knew when to keep his mouth shut. I genuinely hope that some of you, particularly one of you that says you're his friend, takes this attitude to heart in the future.
This community used to be a lot cooler place, and Stupe was a priceless artifact among the 'new hotness' of the current batch of turds roaming the boards.
What can I possibly say, other than simply...F--KING HELL.

I know Ive already posted my condolences but everytime I see this post it just hurts me to the center of my heart to know he's gone. Tears welling up again as I type this but like people have said before he's in a better place than this earth. For that I can take some comfort as well. Admittedly I cant say I knew him as well as DK or Apollo or some of the others but for what I did know him for that will always be missed.

Stupe was a great guy, and this is what I know from only talking to him on the VNBoards a few times, and chatting with him in ingame a few times. R.I.P Stupefied, the world just lost a great person.

There are many people who come and go in our lives ...
A few touch us in ways that change us forever,
making us better from knowing them.
It's doubly tragic when someone so young is lost ... I find myself spending long periods in reflection as this year draws to a close. So much has change, there have been so many challenges for me personally ... through it all there is a knowledge that life is fleeting and we need to savor and embrace every second we're given. We need to live with no regrets, and as few fears as possible. Life is precious and those left behind when someone dies ... always learn that lesson.
Blessing be upon this young man's family and friends ... he is indeed starting a new journey.

Seriously, wtf. I was looking forward to having the same party at prestons with Stupe and the gang there. Well, atleast I got to meet the dude, I talked to him last month and he was the same as he always was. Just, happy and enlitening. Definatly would consider him a friend.

so sorry to hear
but I would also like to let you all know how I feel about Death. I believe that we should not morn death but celebrate life. I know it easier said then done (I just got the chance a few weeks ago to practice what I preach) So for those that knew him well today when you feel the need to cry or be sad or morn at all try to remember the good things he did and be grateful for the time we all had with him. I hope his family can get past the sadness to see the great life I'm sure he lived.

You're right Jealousy, Im pretty sure its the bible that tells us to do that. Its just so hard. 'Specially knowing he was takin so quickly from this earth ~ tho I beleive hes watchin over all of us now, he wouldnt want for us to be sad ~ if anything, we all should be jealous .. Afterall, he's the one that got to go to a better place!
I know he taught me lots of things over the period of time that I knew him .. hopefully he was able to do the same with others. He left a mark that'll never fade, nor will it ever be erased.

I few years ago the monarchy I was in had one of it's members pass away and we had a memorial of sorts where we all had torches and sat them down in the middle and then knelled tell the game took them. It was very touching no matter how cheesy it sounds we sent SS's to his brother (he was there in game that day also) and he said that his family really love that even if it was just a game people still cared about him. I thought maybe someone that knew him might like to set something up for all of his long distance friends.

The viewing will be Wednesday night 4:00-7:00 pm and the funeral is Thursday at 11:00 am at Bass Funeral Home. When asked if there was something the family wished for in lieu of flowers, his mother's response was whatever they want to do. A shy man who saw my shyness and pushed me to meet Hokem for ACPL 2003. He was so wonderful.
I met him in game once and it took me time to send him a tell to tell him Mayumi was my little one. He greeted me warmly.
Here I always felt his shy soul was so like mine. Oh ... I will miss him.

I just got back last night from celebrating the Holidays with my family in California.
I got a call from Travis & Richard over the weekend letting me know what had happened. When I answered the call, I responded in my usual smart-ass fashion, but I quickly found that there was nothing to laugh about...

Xilic was one of the first few people I ever met on SC. He was really kind to me and it made a lasting impression.
It really is a shame to lose him at such a young age.

For all of you that have already or that intend to post on this thread:
Tod (Stupefied)'s family are reading the thread and are most appreciative of your words and acts. If you have already posted but can think of particular ways/times Stup was influential or special to you I KNOW they would love for you to post it so they can read them. They knew he was a big gamer but until now had no idea their son/brother had meant so much to so many and I can tell you it brings them much comfort in a time of such sadness just to know that he was loved and appreciated so much.
For myself I could not begin to relate all the times Tod was special to me, but I can say that he was. He was one of a kind and one of my favorite people in the world. He had a keen mind and a gentle spirit. He was always there for anyone that every needed anything. I only hope that he knew how much he meant to us. Tod, knowing you was one of the greatest honors of my life and you will never be forgotten.

Lucky someone was there to explain exactly what that meant!!
I dont know if I can really put into words any of the thoughts Im having right now.
Tod was, and still is, a very special person. I was lucky to have in my life, I thank God for that. I learned a lot from him, and none of it will ever be forgotten. He used to tell me all the time "dont worry about the little things, lifes too short" ~ and he would say "You read into things too deep" ~ Tho I have to admit, I always hated it when he said that .. lol .. cuz most tha time he was right. I used to try to pick fights with him, on purpose, cuz he'd tell me #1- "He'd never get mad" and #2- "I'd never win" .. yeah well, he was right there too!! He was always so calm!! We shared a lot of good times together. Yeah yeah, we had some not so good times too, but thats what makes everything so special. Through the good and the bad, he never turned his back to me. His heart was huge .. Ive never met a man like him, and I dont think I ever will. Tod, you will -NEVER- be forgotten ~ and will -ALWAYS- be missed.

What horrible news.
To bury ones child is every parents nightmare.
That is a place I dont even want to go. I dont think I could do that. I have buried friends and family but to bury one of my children, I couldnt. The pain his family must be going through. The meaning of Christmas will forever be changed for them.

The loss of Tod has been so great, but reading all of the thoughts and prayers from everyone he has touched has been so wonderful and gives me such strength. Tod has had the most wonderful friends, I feel such sorrow for all of us. For those of you who didn't know him in RL, he was the most gentle, kind, caring soul you could ever want to know. He was so very special, too special to stay in this most-times cruel world. I take peace and comfort knowing that the Lord has called Tod Home, and I will be with him again some day. I was blessed to be with him the day he was born and the day he died. Thank you all for your words of comfort and I will be taking with me everyone of them as we say goodbye today. God bless.

I too am speechless as I try to show my remorse. I havent played AC or checked these boards in over a year, but I met Stupe on more than one occassion and knew he was a special person.

Just called Ian(spas) to let him know.
Met Stupe 2 times and feel lucky to know the guy behind the toon of Stupes eyes.
Anyone that can with-stand Spastiks jokes has to be a strong person on the inside out.
I feel honored to have known him.
Tonight as I celebrate the new year it will weigh heavy in my heart and mind and even though the people I will be with tonight wont know what the toast is for I will make one in our friends memory and hope that all of you will have a safe and happy new year.
