AoE had a group/battlegroup forming at SoM. TNO zooms in, ignores the fact that we were clearly there first, and deliberately starts the encounter. What was worse on top of this for me, was being told after the fact that my char deserved it less because I was only RR2, and that I was in a "PvE" guild.
Jod, their GM, admitted that it was a "slightly mean" thing to do, but apparently they didn't feel they needed to wait their turn.
I'm curling up with a good book now, to end my evening on a happy note

Last night I also witnessed a case of TNO jumping into the Dreamsphere encounter even tho it had already been started by a small group.
I won't name the players as I believe they were not the "real" chars, but it stills brings the name of TNO down a stop further.
Personally I have a lot of respec for TNO and their (Semi-AFK) GL's, but I see at no point that any guild, realm rank or anything should have preference over an artifact that is already camped.
As mentioned above, ToA is annoying and frustrating enough without getting into an issue of camp stealing.
Have respect for your fellow Hibs please

wow... and to think i thought of them as a good guild...., if that's true sounds more like assholes, an screw that PvE guild thing, just because someone doesn't have the time or the ability to get into an RvR guild, doens't mean they don't deserve it, it's not like that encounter is never up.

There's a 2nd side to every story...
It's simple, we showed up to do SoM, we were prepared, she was not, so we killed it, end of story.
Parking a bot at an encounter gives you no right to claim it. She isn't the only person in the world who's been waiting for weeks for SoM.
As for the rr2 comment. She was the one who in tells afterwards brought up the speech about helping out the realm. All I did was give an honest reply, no insult intended...

Since it's so frustrating to camp certain encounters, would be common and costless courtesy to put up a BG and do the encounter with whoever happens to be there; even if it's just a bot, it clearly indicates there's someone inc for that encounter.
But yet, courtesy is too often put aside in the wonderful world of DAoC, thx to stressful encounters and ppl getting greedy abut teh ubah l00ts.

Although, hitting an already engaged encounter and trying to steal the kill spam out of spite is...
PS: /wave Solamnia, yeah most people are that way, so like others if I am ready to do the encounter and its up, I could care less if some bot is parked there or people are "waiting" on their guild to show up. Sorry, guess I am just a jerk =(

Lol TNO.. Yestreday a grp tried to kill Erami (2 TNO members were present), they died to it, Postal released, so a few people any myself proceeded to pull him (no one was attacking him at the time, they were all dead). Postal came back, re'zed up and they porceeded to try and take back the encounter. But alas they failed, and we got the loot..
Postal goes on about respect... and they come and gank SoM... GG

LOL i was there i was playing Greyfire, just as a side note greyfire is NOT my char it is someone elses, if you wanna take it out on me, use the right char. now onto the next thing, we came there you were just standing there doing NOTHING except for screaming about not taking it, you had noone visible inc, and we had a full group, then once we pulled the encounter, you started to hit our mobs, the ones that we hit first, that we pulled that we had aggro from, that is against the TOS

An artifact encounter is not yours until you have started it. It is yours until you die in the attempt.
A lesson I had to learn the hard way, as there is little courtesy in this world, much less this game. Only thing you can do is move faster to an encounter.

Also, I believe Steep said something about a nerf to Ceremonial encounter a little while ago. Anyone know the chance to drop arti now? I have killed 5 of them with no drop now =(

I wouldnt be happy if it happened to me, but like others have said, the encounter is fair game for anyone untill it's engaged in combat.
The worst encounter is sun/moon belt. People will wait around untill you pull the 2nd last mob left. They wait untill its almost dead, then pull and kill the last mob, and get the credit. Hate that one.

Yep, first on scene with group that actually starts the encounter gets initial rights. Bot camping looking at it is not enough even if you have people incoming. It's a painful system but really the only fair way to deal with matters since mythic refuses to lower the respawn timers on some of this stuff.
I can't even imagine what the Cloudsong camping alb must be like. o.O

There was no bot-parking going on. I had been camped there myself for eight hours, actively watching that spot. The second it popped, I told my guild.
Six of us were there when you started the encounter. We were there first, and you pulled anyway. *shrug*

I was just about to pull the SoM with a full group when 2 pallies, PBT and a cleric ran through us and started the encounter. (I was running stealthed to the statue.)
They continued to complain about how they had the encounter stolen from them many times and didnt care about stealing it from others. Meanwhile, no one in the group can activate the SoM. I knew they were there just to farm it.
After the encounter was done, they logged. Five minutes later, it repopped. We killed the mobs and got the cloak.
The encounter instapopped again and guess who logs in. The same pallies, PBT and cleric bot. To bad we had already started the encounter again.
We pulled two cloaks down in 30 minutes. One went to myself and the other went to Casique. Not to a merchant for 20 PP
During the whole time, I never said a word in any channel to them. My guildees had a field day with /s and /send though.
Point is, do not worry about getting something in a game. You will have your day and it will be that mutch better when you get to stick it to those who ruined your time.
P.S.
They probably radared the encounter

AoE pissed and moaned to one of our GM's so he got a little annoyed and sent an honest response back to them oh well life goes on. They come crying to VN wah wah he stole my toy...

I see no shame on using an item in PvE rather then PvP. There's more then just one side in DAoC, both attract ppl more or less.

R2 Bard, I guess I need to deactivate all my artis and give it to someone that outranks me by RPs......forget the fact that I just rerolled, or that this guy that started the thread might have needed it to finish his template so he can START rvring and get that higher RR you hold in such high regard. When Free RPs first got 50 on Jathin, you think he'd be okay with telling him "Sorry, no cloudsong for you... It's going to an Eld that is higher RR so I deserve it more."
That's one of the most ignorant statements I've ever heard out of a member of TNO, a guild I respect highly... and considering the number of Cyce chestbeats that have blown up in his face, that's saying something.

Guess Hibs on this server just can't work together. If another guild beat you to the encounter but aren't ready yet, give them 5 minutes to activate the encounter. They were there first, if they don't take it in 5 min or they get wiped, its all yours. You don't have to be an @ss clown and just think your superior to every one cause your higher RR. Get a job and have a social life.. its much more fun.

"AoE had a group/battlegroup forming at SoM. TNO zooms in, ignores the fact that we were clearly there first, and deliberately starts the encounter. What was worse on top of this for me, was being told after the fact that my char deserved it less because I was only RR2, and that I was in a "PvE" guild.
Jod, their GM, admitted that it was a "slightly mean" thing to do, but apparently they didn't feel they needed to wait their turn."
I always loved Jod. Oh and if you havent engaged the mob/mobs then the encounter isnt started and is FFA :P

I sympathize with the point of view that TNO showed up with a group ready to do the encounter while one random person is standing there trying to get a group together. There are no camps is DAOC, and if the encounter hadnt been started they are perfectly entitled to do it.
BUT - a gracious thing to do would be to add that person to your BG, let them help and give them a shot at rolling for the artifact. 1 person rolling against 8 TNO, the odds are still dramatically in your favor and instead of making an enemy you might have made a new fan.

How about this variation. Me and a guildy were doing BoM. A cleric (in our alliance even) came up and asked to join just for "encounter credit." I invite him but he is already grouped. We tell him to disband. On the last one, another group pulls it. I am glad my necro buddy was quick on the kill and got the key. We get the belt. As we get ready to leave, the cleric that joined us for credit ends up grouped with the people trying to steal the encounter. He even made the comment before he left "they were trying to steal the encounter" but he still grouped with them. hmmmm.

Oh and the "gracious" thing to do, if there were 6 people there as Kari said, would be to ask how long till they pull. If they dont know or it is not really soon, tell them you are going to pull and invite them to the /bg.
Is what was done wrong? Who knows since there are two stories, but it still sounds rude regardless.

I hate TOA because of these reasons. I feel bad for smaller guilds who take more time to form up when an artifact is found to be up. Especially when even in my guild it might be 30 mins to an hour before people are done with whatever they are doing to help someone and we may still not have enough.
I just hate TOA.

Yes, offering her the bg would have probably been the right thing to do, but the second we showed up she starts going ballistic in yells about how she's first in line.
Btw guys, don't get the impression that we ran straight in the circle and started the encounter either. When we showed up we waited about 3 minutes for an incoming bot only to have the guy on the bot LD. So I myself then proceeded to load a bot, which was in DL, put it on pad, port to volcanus, then run to encounter and start. That entire time her 'group' was still nowhere in sight. We more or less said screw it and started it.
And when we did start the encounter and were working on the first mob, another 3 or 4 people showed up. I'm not entirely convinced that they could have completed it themselves anyways, but that's not the issue here...
And about the comment, you guys don't know the context that it was in either. There was a good 20-30 minutes of arguing/whining/pleading in tells afterwards and she picks one half of one random comment and throws it up on the boards. Was it a little mean? Maybe. But after 20 minutes of politely responding to insistent pleading, where she tried everything from threats to begging. When she finally started going off about not helping the realm by stealing people's artifacts, I was fed up enough I gave the reply "Having SoM on a rr7 would benefit the realm more than a rr2". Btw, there was no flame of any sort about a PvE guild.
Another note, after she gave up she sent someone else to whine/plead/beg with me. A guy named Stealhead (guildy?). In tells with him I got him to admit that she had planted a bot there for 7 hours, not actively camp it. Wish I would've enable chat log or taken SS's, but oh well, I was doing all this while we were fighting battler etc.
And finally the Dreamsphere issue... I know nothing about it. I'd like to hear some more concrete details instead of just flames/accusations.

lol, yeah flames are entertaining.
Here's another note that crossed my mind. If she had been 'actively sitting there for 8 hours'. Why in the world was her group taking so long to get there.
But even in the case that the statue spawned 1 second before we got into clip range, we spent no less than 10-15 minutes getting bots before we were ready.
Another thing that crossed my mind. Would've mentioned this in last post, but I just woke up thanks to phone call after 5 hours of sleep bleh...
While my bot was inc, I did /who AoE and there was 5 people online, one in cursed forest, 2 in connacht, and her bot and herself in typhons. Sure didn't look like she had a guild group incoming. Yes they did show up after we started it so must've been anon, but still, are we supposed to stand by when we're ready on an encounter we really want when for all we know she might be waiting for people to even log on.
And the bg was out of the question, there was too much friction at that point. Like I said, she went haywire when we showed up.

That means nothing because how is anyone supposed to know whether or not a particular person was actually sitting there actively WATCHING an encounter the whole time or whether they actually did call up their guildies right away or that they actually have enough incoming to get it. Too many unknowns.
Better to let the people who get there faster with a group ready to go start up the encounter. It's an objective test for things and removes the guess work. Also the faster encounter get done the faster the turnover for them to respawn again. It's a crappy situation but that the life on a high population server where mythic refuses to lower timeers on respawns.
All that said, the low RR comment is stupid especially if someone is trying to outfit a new character for RvR.

SoM is an evil encounter, poor hygelac waited what 14 hrs for the spawn, not a bot just him sitting there! Well at least its a 100% drop not like some other encounters.
To the whole stealing encounter issue, SoM can be done with 6 people, probably would have been better to pull when you saw tno standing there. Oh well I dont care its a pos cloak and rs 3 goes for like 10p on lance you are better off without it!

yes Bjor that happened to us a few weeks back. . .
one FG (okay 5 + 3 bots) of Angels of Albion members (i know, no knows or cares about us small guilds) was trying to kill a fully leveled Battler (note: he was fully leveld with graves all around when we got there). ..to no avail.
a BG of Zen came up to do the encounter (was like 2+ groups) and not only waited to make sure we werent going to restart the encounter again (we were busy trying to rez the last group memeber still). . .but they offered to have us join them!
The only qualifier is that they wanted to call sleeves for one of their members. . . which was fine since we were there for credit (and a chance at the arti). Long story short, not only did they let everyone roll for the arti (all chars, not just those who could use. . .which benefitted us because only 3 in our groups could have used), but even let the lvl 44 who ended up winning the arti roll as an equal share (ie the same /rand number).
All in all the encounter with Zen (which I've had pently of other positive ones in truth) really made my day.. . .The good will fostered that day still hasnt gone forgotten!

Understand the entire situation before you make a judgement. If we were in the wrong, that means that TNO can take its 8 guild bots, plant them at the 8 most popular encounter sites and then proceed to tell anyone who comes by that we have a group incoming while we proceed to do all 8 encounters at our leisure. If this is actually the case then I will admit that we were in the wrong.

TNO definately good people in my book. Never had a problem with them. And yeah after being yelled at /screamed at/ complained too in tells enough you begin to stop being polite. I know from experience ( i do phone tech support for a living) that the longer an issue goes on be it in tells or like me on the phone the harder and harder it is to remain polite and patient especially when the other person is either not listening or just trying to complain.

i agree with the respect thing. I have as many many people will attest always tried to NEVER KS and or camp steal (even though there is no camp if someone is fighting in an are i will not touch it without asking them first) the problem is harldy anybody else is this way and it gets to the point where you HAVE to stoop to that level if you EVER want to achieve anything (artis/drops/anything) just my 2 cents on the matter. Yeah well I don't talk to Free Rps that much, so I don't know their humor. I'm normally the quiet guy. Throw in the fact that I'm still insanely tired even though I've been up for 2 hours now makes it hard to pick up on humor.

Its funny how VN is full gankers crying and moaning about how they got rolled in rvr by a zerg, leeched, assjammed etc etc and in pve they themselves have ZERO respect for their realmmates and steal camps, steal credit and artifact while another gourp is in the middle of doing the encounter etc etc.
Stelaing a camp may not be against the rules but it is very disrespectful and is against the community standard rather than the rules. If the person is willing to camp many hours he/she certainly do deserve that artifact. If he/she was in the process of getting a group together wait it out and see if they come or even ask how long.
HOWEVER if you are farming artifacts so you can just sell it and REALLY inflated prices and prevent ppl who ACTUALLY use it from getting it you should go to EFFIN HELL.

I most certainly argued and whined quite a bit. Yes, it was a good 20-30 minutes. If politely asking for the artifact (it never hurts to ask!) was "pleading" in your eyes, then I'll agree with that also.
However, I have far too much dignity to beg. I asked for it politely. You told me to talk to Grey. Grey said he'd sell it to me for 40p. At the moment I'm 38.5p short, otherwise I'd have taken him up on the offer, just so he would have had to do it again.

I believe in common curtesy. I will not for instance, aggro 10 rocots to farm cash when they're lowbies trying to XP off of them, etc.
Secondly, when I show up to an encounter (I have done this in the past) I would ask if they have a group inc and give them 10 minutes to get here. If they cannot get people to port, zone, ect fto start, they are SoL.

The phrase "Dollars to donuts" first appeared in the US around the time of the building of the continental railroad and was brought here by the Chinese. The actual phrase is "Dollars to dog nuts", dog nuts being a delicacy in some parts of China at some point. Supposedly, the stridently religious liked the concept of the phrase but were offended by the reference to canine testicles and simply changed it to "donuts", which they considered to be...umm...more palatable on a couple of different levels.

Hah, worst encounter story ever.
I had been trying to get battler done (Alb Lance) for Dammekos, never could find him up or not insanely huge. I logged in and he was up level 1. I try and find some peeps to help me kill him when I learn that a group was gathering to do it. I ask them if I can join them for credit, that way I could just go buy the damn thing and move on.
I end up dying to some random aggro while waiting for them to find their way to battler. The group(s) finally tell me that they dont know how to get there so I release and tell them to meet me at Haven. When I meet up with them about 1/3 of their herd leave. Basically its one Paladin 4 infils 1 cleric some low RR casters and I think a friar. Clearly this group is not going to beat Battler only feed him. I get Gimpster to come on a paladin and Frungya to come for more healing and FoP. I lead them there since they did not know where Battler was. Frungya and Gimpster in their own group end up with loot rights after Battler died. The artifact is given to the Paladin the other group was going to attempt to do it for, the people on the raid decide to give me the chain tank sleeves that dropped. I thank them and go on my way to housing to buy a battler.
I get a tell from one of the other peeps guildmasters saying that it was fubar'ed of me to take loot when all I wanted was artifact credit. Minstrel on the raid wanted it for his alt, I told the GM that yeah all I wanted was credit until I had to get my people to come and in turn become the raid leader. He just wouldnt understand this concept and continued to call me a bad person for going back on my word, I told him to tell the minstrel to come to housing and I would drop the sleeves on the ground and be done with the whole issue. The Mins never showed up so I sold the sleeves. Artifact encounters always bring out the worst in people it seems.

lolol i remember when you did battler on dammekos. Those infs got reallly pissed that the melee chain automatically went to you even when you were the only melee chain wearer in the group rofl.
I remember doing SoM w/ my alliance. Some alliance peeps were begging for help so we all went. lol their main group makeup was 1 paladin, 2 minstrels, 4 infs and a cleric (who actually popped spthere of rejuv), while the "helpers" were all paladins, armsman and other heavy shield tanks w/o groups. We died like 4 times and they couldn't figure out why lol. Finally ended up called 1.5 groups of BMs to do that encounter. 3 groups for SoM GG

I don't get it. I mean i know TNO does participate in alot of RvR and realm support. So why do things that are totally opposite of realm supportive. PvE/RvR...really makes no diff. We're supposed to fend for eachother. She was physically camping SoM for quite a long time was present there on her toon not just parking it there. Sure, theres no rule that prevents you from rushing the camp, but there is a thing called morals and respect for your realm which you supposedly have so much of since you RvR more thean we do? Taking keeps and defending relics is all good, but shanking your realm mates even if it be in PvE is hypocritical IMO.
Ehlis seems to have alot to say. Big man doing all the right things. OK...greyfire is not your toon, and I knew the original Adalonius/AKA: Dukes, who just happened to be an AoE player. So have you ever had a toon you didn't have to buy? Sure jump on an ebayed toon and join a good guild , then try and justify your lack of morals and blatent disrespect for others? Whatever...bleh.
