Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

We boiled crawfish on Saturday. $2.09 a pound live. The price will be dropping now, it always does after Easter.

What do you think it would take to get me about 50 pounds to Boise?

I would have to check around, a sack is around 35-40 pounds. The shipping will be big. Deanies Seafood would be my best recommendation. http://www.deanies.com/contact-us/

Ummm no, we had a 37 pound sack for Leon, my sister, two friends and myself. Leon's rule of thumb is 10 pounds per person. Of course we are eating fools. If you had potatoes, corn, mushrooms, smoked sausage, garlic, etc, then you can get away with less.

Ya you can get away with having that as a main course. I usually only go for about 2 pounds a head but was trying to be cheap. But about three sacks then if we're meeting in the middle on weight?

That sounds about right. Looks like a 35 pound sack is running around $70.00, not sure what the shipping would be though. Shipping looks to be about $200.00

Yeah, it is a bit steep. Then when you add the seasoning, salt, etc, it will be way out there. I have a friend in Denham Springs, right outside of Baton Rouge, and they were going for $3.49 a pound live this past week end.

It's a great price, we looked at them last year and they were 5.79 plus shipping. Oil spill really jacked the prices up I guess.

Crawfish are fresh water, so the oil spill probably jacked the price because harvesters were working on the spill.

At the start of the season this year, they were $4+ a pound. No rain, now we have had some good rain and the price dropped. Leon is thinking about going into the WMA and catching some, not me, I don't handle snakes well.

Just grab some stray cats and load em in the boat. They'll either ward em off or be used as food instead of you

Eesh, ya that's a might friendly with em. I never netted them, we just put pots out on the end of milk jugs with bait.

He has nets he throws out with floats attached. Sometimes he has to walk into the marsh a bit to get to them. I love to go crabbing, that can be done from the seawall or the boat.
