Just did a quick search to see if theres any update on who is going to replace overeem at 146. Henderson might take it some are saying. That would be a good fight I think, he would be at a slight disadvantage, but i think their two styles match up to a very exciting fight and either could win it.
I posted a while back that my grandfather was the youngest of 13. I have no idea where I got that number, i just remembered he was the youngest of many. It was actually just 6, 13 is ridiculous, and i forgot to consider that back then, they didnt have birth control. They grew up working on a farm.
Also, i posted some anti wrestling shit yesterday, ok its not so bad, they are atheletes and it is a sport, and they can transition effectively into MMA, i just dont like wrestling OKAY OKAY

he was a big guy, 6'6 or 6'7, and saw a lot of action during the korean war, including being selected to ambush a convoy with a bazooka even though he had never fired one before. he said he had no idea how to use it and completely missed.
normally he used artillery and was close to deaf, because they used to use a cigarette butt as an earplug. usually they would receive orders and adjust their howitzers/cannons/not sure what they were called, to the designated angle, and continuously fire and reload. he said they never saw their targets, but once, they knew there would be a large number of korean tanks traveling through a valley. there was a position they had time to set up for direct fire, where the cannons were aimed directly at the targets, just a few hundred yards away and they could see them. he said they destroyed over 20 tanks and they could see them explode and set on fire. he seemed extremely sad as he talked about this.

yes i find it extremely entertaining usually, even though for a couple years recently i went without watching any because i didnt have enough free time but did a lot of catching up. ive been following it before there were any leagues and there were only movies and documentarys that showed the international, all styles welcome, full contact no pads fights. after that, for some time the only leagues were pancrase and pride. its something i have always enjoyed training in and enjoyed watching. i dont do much reading about it, though, unless something interests me.

I remember watching the old half-hour UFC fights. No rules, no breaks, just 30 fucking minutes to beat the other guy. This is when the Gracies were wrecking everyone lol.

yes, i didnt see them live at the time but ive seen a lot of the classics since then, those were entertaining with strange rules. i am not a big fan of the BJJ 'fad' and i think there are several reason that the gracies did so well. first, they didnt fight people who were experts of judo or wrestling, most of their big upsets came against dedicated strikers, who were also not the true Greats, who even before UFC also realized they needed to train both on their feet and on the ground. second, recently learning that kimura humiliated the original gracie in front of his country, and knowing that the Gracie who made BJJ famous was later found using steroids, i am guessing that he was also using them early on as well and was driven to cheat to succeed in order to gain back some of his families lost though, now mostly unknown, damaged pride.

also, i think gracies success is widely overrated. his biggest acomplishments were defeating ken shamrock and dan severn. ok , both are amazing fighters, but not enough in my opinion to be considered one of the greatest of all time. of course, if youre from brazil, or want their PPV/fan money, you might think/try market it differently.
its somewhat funny to me that people actually say Fedor fought Cans, but then they go on to say that the gracies are the best of all time. just compare fedors to Royce and Ricksons fight historys.
