Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

Then why do they drop science departements to fund "vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion"? Do they really think that is more important than science? Another example of where they use words to hammer people while ignoring the real meaning of the words. Studies prove that women take less science courses and more "studies" courses. Then they complain that women are not paid as much as men? (Disproven btw, all things being equal they make more.) They love to say that conservatives are anti-science but have to back 600 years to find examples. For love of God, will people ever wake up to their stupidty? http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=50651 And what has the money been spent on? Some of it presumably goes to professors in the hard sciences and the great scholars who have made American universities the best in the world. Well and good. But many university administrators have other priorities. The University of California system has been raising tuitions and cutting departments. But, reports John Leo in the invaluable Minding the Campus blog, its San Diego campus found the money to create a new post of "vice chancellor for equity, diversity and inclusion." That's in addition to what the Manhattan Institute's Heather Mac Donald calls its "already massive diversity apparatus." It takes Mac Donald 103 words just to list the titles of UCSD's diversitycrats. The money for the new vice chancellorship could have supported two of the three cancer researchers that the campus lost to Rice University in Houston, a private school that apparently takes the strange view that hard science is more important than diversity facilitators. This doesn't just happen on the Left Coast. The University of North Carolina at Wilmington saved some money by lumping together two science departments and raised spending on its five diversity-multicultural offices.

I'm not saying you are right or wrong HSI, but what does it have to do with this issue? Are you so afraid to take me on that you and your other followers have to side step every issue I bring up? Stand up for what you believe in! You have nothing to lose but your overinflated EGO and tons of knowledge to gain.

You can't build or maintain a society on fluff and misguided wishes, sooner or later what these people are sowing, they will have to reap. And no amount of evidence will convince them that they are on the wrong track, even when the track ends they will blame others for their lack of vision or some other excuse to protect their egos with.

In fairness, Kinsey faked all the "research" the book was based upon, so it should be shunned.

I can answer your question if you want a serious answer. One of the main reasons universities and the like are dropping courses is because they lack funding for the courses and certain courses lack popularity. To combat this, some colleges and community colleges are considering raising the prices per classes due to that class's popularity. It has nothing to do with morality or scientific nature, but everything to do with education getting gutting to fund the war machine or other 'special projects'. Recently, this came to a head when students were pepper sprayed when they demonstrated against the 'price tag by popularity' debate. It's not a liberal or conservative question, but one of economics. Or even more simply: supply and demand. The demand for certain classes is less than the demand for other classes. Of course, this is not all-inclusive of every college or university, but the problem with funding is an ongoing problem many colleges are facing. More so for the state colleges and the like, naturally.

I see. I never understood that there was so much demand for diversity classes. For that matter I never even knew there was such a thing as diversity classes. I mean other than the indoctrination courses students are forced to take. I'm much more enlightened now. Now that we have got the joke out of the way, what is the real reason?

Could be as simple as giving the conspiracy theorists a reason to post and rant a bunch of nonsense on a near obsolete discussion board. How's that working so far?

At Arizona State, they keep increasing the number of non-technical courses that students are required to take, even those in engineering, physics, math, etc. It isn't just World Religion 101 in your Freshman year, they are requiring multiple upper division electives in order to graduate.

I had to take three art courses for my Business/Computer degree. While I liked the classes and of course got and A, I was not sure what it had to do with Business/Computers.
