Thank you for sharing your opinion. However, the statement that "if trolls could ruin a forum then every single forum in existence would be boring as sin or closed" is inaccurate. Trolls may be amusing at first but most people quickly grow tired of not being able to have debates or discussions without the same handful of people coming along to drag the discussion down with their immature behavior and comments.

Either way, I suspect that we will not agree on this topic. You feel adults wanting non troll infested discussions ruined the boards while I feel immature trolls who are only concerned with stroking their epeen and circle jerking each other while trying to "own" people ruined the boards. /shrug

Excuse me, but you are a troll. Not a mindless one, granted, but yes a troll. I can look over your many posts and read you mocking and baiting people for responses. You offer nothing of substance. Debate is encouraged. And yes, discussion is also encouraged. The problem is a question of civility. I don't need to insult you by calling you a 'tightass' or other nonsense. It makes no sense unless I desire conflict or a flame war. Which I know you do, again from your postings.

Personally, I think you and those like you lack any kind of self-worth or life beyond these boards. Why in the world would anyone want to post such negative, nasty comments and seek out drama or conflict on something as random as a discussion boards unless their real life was so lacking and dull otherwise. If I feel superior, it's because you and those like you lowered the bar so much, a sewer rat could claim to be superior. And, honestly, what does it even matter? You don't three F me, so why would I even give a damn what you think or say?

In a few days, I won't even recall this conversation because it's just a blip in an otherwise busy day. In about a year, I won't even recall who you are. Why? Because you don't even matter.

That's why you do what you do. You desperately want to matter. You want people to notice you. Well, congratulations. I noticed you for a few minutes. Your negative actions and comments have gotten people to note you.

That is why you're a troll.

And next week, when these boards go extinct, it'll all be moot anyway. No one will remember and no one will care. But, to be fair, I really don't care now. Because, in the bigger picture, you really don't matter to anyone at all.

These boards are dead because the MMOs that kept them active are dead. DAOC, UO, AC, etc. are all way past their prime and there just aren't that many people still interested in them. For folks interested in newer MMOs there are better places to get up to date information and discuss the game.

MMO-Champion, for instance, is a much better resource for WoW info and discussion. You wouldn't like it there though cause they allow adult language and the trolling over there makes this place look like Romper Room.

Lets face it MMO's are big business and Blizzard is about the biggest fish in it thus go to great lengths to protect its image.

It could be that Blizzard whom do have their PR tentacles wrapped all over places like MMO Champ, WoWhead etc... and exercise more than a modicum of control over post-able content just can't stand rogue sites like VN which they are basically helpless as to what its users post about them or their games.

This merge may simply be Blizzard doing some tentacle wrapping and removing a pain in their PR backside.

Also, your vehement denials of interest in discussions with people you label trolls is belied by your documented inability to resist cluttering threads with inarticulate, poorly framed ad hominem attacks against them. I would suggest you consider what a low-priority activity like these forums -- and your failure to use them properly as a tool -- means for your future career choices.

We have plenty of insightful discussions about various topics around here. It's a shame that some of you cannot show enough maturity to see the meat of a passionately-argued point instead of constantly tripping over aesthetics.

I sincerely hope the mods of whatever new board is formed keep a tight leash on trolls and other posters who get off on causing arguments and disrupting conversations. If not, then the new boards will likely be just another version of this board.
