The makers of Mass Effect 3 are to provide a free extension to the video game following complaints about its original conclusion.
Players had described the three original endings as "underwhelming" and not significantly different, and had demanded a change.
Developer Bioware had previously described the feedback as "incredibly painful".
It has now said the new content will be available in the summer.
"We have reprioritised our post-launch development efforts to provide the fans who want more closure with even more context and clarity to the ending of the game, in a way that will feel more personalised for each player," said Casey Hudson, the series' executive producer.
Dr Ray Muzyka, co-founder of Bioware, added: "With the Mass Effect 3 extended cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team's artistic vision for the end of this story arc."
I can only imagine the conversation between Bioware and EA when Bioware said they were going to do this.

This will just be the first alternate ending. You will be able to buy additional alternate ending DLC for $10 bucks each that will change the colors of the outfits people wear and other important things!

The Retake Mass Effect petition has ended. The group raised an impressive $80,000 in less than two weeks.
The petition began last week, and raised $40,000 in just over a day. "The very idea that we would even be able to reach that goal was a fever dream only a week ago," the group said. "I don't believe anyone can or should consider this effort to have been anything but spectacularly successful."
Earlier this week, BioWare's Dr. Ray Muzyka addressed the concerns of some fans saying the studio was looking to release additional game content that would offer clarity to the game's ending.
"As evidenced by the statement from Dr. Myzuka yesterday, we have made our voices heard. Those of you here have taken special care to be heard in a polite, positive manner, and I believe that this is a major contributor to that success."
The money will be donated to Child's Play, a charity organization that provides video games to children in hospitals.
People are apparently pretty disappointed with the ending as released.

Well, to be fair, after all the time many players invested into these games, they'd expect something a little more epic. Sure, go ahead and throw in that weird ending or whatever, but for those who worked really hard to get the "good" ending, it should deliver.
It'd be like if George Lucas stopped the first Star Wars film as soon as they got off the Death Star, but before the awesome X-Wing vs. TIE Fighter scene and blowing it up stuff. Sure, they saved the Princess, but the Death Star is still lurking around, and we want to see it blown up for destroying that innocent planet earlier.
