I know nothing of which you are speaking, but after reading the replies I gather you lost a loved one. That coupled with the fact you posted a picture of a very beautiful child makes me that much more sad for your loss. Not much I, or anyone, can say to make things easier for you. I'm happy for you that whatever it is you were going through looks to be resolved, and now you can really start the healing process. Though, how you would recover from something like that is beyond me, you seem to be doing well. I'm sorry for your loss, and I hope everything turned out as good as they could in this situation.
That being said, sometimes talking can really help. Doesn't matter who you talk to, where you do it, or what is said, just doing it seems to really help. If this is your forum, I'm sure there are a lot of people who would be interested in the story. Chances are you'll have some douchers here, but I think the majority of people would be more than willing to comfort you.

Sentimental/emo post incoming:
From a personal point of view, I would like to hear the story because I've followed the overall event to some extent. I know it will be sad and probably make me upset and/or angry. I want you to know that even if some of us on here aren't close, we do to some extent share and grieve over the loss of someone so dear to you - especially a child. Not only that, but I feel that hearing stories like this, not because of the loss but because of the love involved, allow me to better understand my own relationships with people close to me and to help me ensure that I don't take certain things for granted.
But all that is a selfish wish. What you *should* do is whatever helps you and your family recover, remember, and heal. Not for others. For you. We are not the people that lost such a beautiful little girl and we aren't the people that are coping with that loss. Do what you feel is right for you.
One last thing. I hope you understand that people who are effectively strangers to you have taken your story as inspiration to better their lives. For me personally, it might be something as simple as an extra "I love you" to my parents, wife or other family members. It might be something as complex as using the love I've seen in you for her as inspiration for when my child is born this September. Every child should be so lucky as to have that kind of love from their father.
In all stories there's a lesson. I really hope you can see the positive impacts your story can and does have on even those that are complete strangers. All the best to you and yours, man.

I'm interested both from a personal standpoint and a legal one. Am I going to say 'Omg you have to tell your story here you OWE us'? Hell no. However, if you feel the need to get the story out for whatever reason(s) you deem worthy, then I'd read and comment on it.
I (like everyone else that posts, reads, or trolls here) have read your posts regarding your daughter's death and your family's life since. I have so much admiration for you and your family, the ability to move on and live afterward, much less come here and sanely talk about things. My youngest sister and two of her friends were killed five years ago in a car accident and I'm not sure that my mother (not that she was okay beforehand) has been right in the head since. My dad's better off but you can tell that various things do bother him and he internalizes a lot of it. I don't think that either one of them has or will have the ability to talk openly about her death with anyone outside of the family. I do think that if you're going to post the entire story here that I'd love to see more pictures of your daughter - she really was beautiful.

That kind of is the problem FYC
after it was all over, I wanted to go talk to the campground association, as well as some politicians
I was basically convinced to let it go.. not to talk about it
Lawyers have told me to not say a word about it during the legal stuff.. I guess that is still sticking a little
and since we settled, (this decision I will always wonder if was right.. but my family is taken care of) I didn't realize it until it was too late, but my hands are tied
however, I took it as a victory.... I don't know if I'm kidding myself or not

I suppose you can take the (legal) victory, even if it was a settlement rather than a criminal judgement, as something that *will* have an impact on the campground businesses' behavior simply because they know that there are significant consequences (albeit, perhaps solely financial) for operating irresponsibly.

since I am opening on this, I want to take it a step further
August of 08 we were done with kids .. I wanted another one, the wife didn't. I accepted it, and moved on. Donna was on the pill.. we were done
"accident" happened. let me tell you there sure was NO hanky panky going on.. for months and months and months.. actually think it was over a year.. well all but one day.
Kait's birthday was in October. We had a memorial service for her that day. well, long story short, that afternoon when we got home we "fell" into each other.. that is really
the best way to put it .. we fell into each other.. it was actually beautiful
9 months and 2 days later we were blessed
that's my son who survived the accident because of nothing short of a miracle
it might be coincidence, but then again, it might not
I say that because there are plenty of families that lost children. I know this I know I'm nothing special when it comes to this
she is going to be 3 this summer, and is nothing short of a blessing...
and some of you may know we were blessed with a little boy a couple of months ago

Every time that I read about what you went through again, I get really emotional and teary-eyed, I just can't even imagine that happening to either of my two little girls. Just beyond words how hard it hits me.
Like others have said, I hope that there is a way for someone to even get closure and move on with their lives, but it looks like you have three wonderful kids right now, and if nothing else, they'd be worth living a fully and happy life for, obviously also for all the other people out there who care deeply for you and your family.
Sorry just getting all sappy again. We have some family friends who lost a son to a school ski trip avalanche a long time ago, and I know how rough it was for them, as well, and that's who I think of whenever I hear about a family's terrible loss like yours Brandun.

Didn't respond to this earlier because to be honest it sucks and, as a father, it is a hard thing to think about. Really though Brandun it all comes down to what is best for you. If it will make you feel better it is probably best to get it out. Discounting the trolls, which should be easy enough to ignore, we've got a pretty good group here so can be a good sounding board. The biggest thing to be careful on though is most settlements have stipulations about what you can and can't say about the event and its settlement. Be careful to follow that to the letter.
I feel for you and can't imagine what you have gone through. That your family has survived intact and even managed to grow after the event is a testament to your love.

Since you asked whether you should tell the story or not, I guess I will put in my 2 cents. No one sees this and thinks 'money grubbing,' or trying to profit off this situation by taking legal action. I don't know if that is the fear, I am only assuming it is, but no one will ever see it like that. Look up frivolous and this is the opposite, plain and simple. So, I guess I am saying if you have any concern that you need to 'set matters straight,' you don't have to.
My other thought is that I think sharing stories is the most important thing you can do. We are all alone in this world, or at least running through without any notion that there is any relevance to any of it. When we hear stories it gives our lives more breadth, realizing our narratives aren't singular. What happened to your poor family thankfully doesn't have to happen to everyone, but everyone experiences loss, pain and suffering, and most people have to come out of that some way or another. When I hear parts of your story, I think of my son, and then of myself. It's easy to lose your identity as a parent, but at the core, we end every night alone with one persons thoughts, and so it is really important to focus on yourself as a parent. If I was to die before my father, I would really sincerely hope he was able to take the steps to move on. It takes a very full hearted person to do this, Brandun, and I cant think of a better way to say it than 'full hearted.' If I can't live in a world untouched by tragedy such as this, at least I get to live in one where the survivors live and carry on with Grace. Just being here, man, talking to us. It's so inspiring, that after a lifetime of being a smartass, I am left speechless. Thank you. Thank you for being here. Thank you for carrying on, even if I only get a glimpse of it.

that's my son who survived the accident because of nothing short of a miracle
it might be coincidence, but then again, it might not

she is going to be 3 this summer, and is nothing short of a blessing...

Well if people want a story I can provide one...
I found out a good friend of mine that I used to know online in WoW recently died. He had MD(muscular dystrophy). He was still able to live on his own but he was found by police in a grocery store parking lot. The crappy thing is, since he was handicapped his parents had bought him the on-star system for his car should he ever need help. He also had a cell phone through AT&T. When his parents realized that he was "missing" they contacted both On Star and AT&T to try and get help. Both companies failed to locate him and they kept stonewalling his parents saying that he must be in a "dead" zone for their signal. After my friend's body was found they tried to get answers from the two companies. Onstar kept up their story that they werent able to locate his car but apparently AT&T finally admitted that they didnt even try. Some people might think negligence is a joke but the information you dont provide to people can be just as deadly as you putting a gun to that person's head and pulling the trigger.
(Also Im not trying to one-up Brandun either. My friend was one of the dearest Ive ever met online although we never met irl I still feel like we really knew each other and we were probably closer than most of my rl friends but I still dont think that compares to the loss of a child. Im just sharing a story to get it off my chest.)

I don't know if there is someone for that, but I am not sure I could do it anyway..
My son got a 4th of the settlemet as he deserves, and his college is set... If and when he gets that hockey scholarship, he can do with it what he wants.. We have debated (well, I have) to let him know about this, but I lost... he won't know until he is older
and as far as the baby girl's wedding.. It's ironic you say that. I think of that day a lot. A LOT. I think of how I will not be able to see Kait's and that will make that day very very difficult for me.. I am going to have a hard time not to be a complete mess the entire day.. And she can have a wedding set for a princess, because that what she is.
And one other thing I think about missing Kait's wedding. Someone out there got robbed.. They don't know it, and will never know it, but they just lost out on one hell of a wife, mother and geniune great, loving ,considerate person. Someone who put others first so they can be happy.. That was Kait.. And someone just got robbed
