I don't. People are everywhere out spending lots of money, driving big cars burning lots of gas. I don't even see a hint of a recession other than what is on paper. I realize lots of people are out of work, but I personally do not see any change.

I notice inflation. When I was a kid you could buy a 2 liter soda bottle for 99 cents. Today, a 24 oz soda bottle costs 1.69 cents.

I think what you most see is the increase in gasoline raising prices.

No.

When it comes to work, especially no. Good times or bad, people always get sick.

Only thing I notice are the gas prices.

But I live in the DC Metro area - we are kinda shielded from the rest of the US

Yes. Although it has gotten better in the last 3-4 months. There are more homes being purchased and less that are appearing abandoned (although someone told me that banks have to mow foreclosures now), and I have had a HUGE increase in clients getting jobs. In our one program over 25% have jobs whereas when I first started 0 had jobs. So that has been noticeably improved. Even the jobs that are being posted that I see are more numerous, better paying, and larger variety.

Similar here, with the houses at least. Not sure if it's the warmer weather as well, but more seem to be selling and more quickly than before.

Apart from that, I didn't really notice anything in my personal day-to-day life, except rising prices. However, at work we noticed it, since we're a business to business association. Less advertisers, and the ones who were advertising were often buying smaller ads in our magazine, less memberships in the association in general, etc. However, in the last year or so things have really started looking up and people are buying more, advertising more, getting more involved, etc. Our particular industry is a little unusual compared to the rest of the US, though.

A friend of mine has been out of work for more than two years. Her husband went back to China to work there so he could send some money back to his family here in the States. They sold their house and she and the kids have moved in with her mother and brother.

Yeah. I've noticed.

My income dropped to almost nothing over the past couple of years.

It's looking up finally though. Got two bids on the "anchor around my damn neck" house in the past week. Hopefully, one of them is by someone with actual money and not trying to get a loan. If that place finally sells, I'm gonna throw a party and you are all invited.
