Yesterday?s 100,000 Annual Pass-holder beta-test invites ran through the night, and we?re still in the process of notifying the invitees by email. Those selected for yesterday?s wave of invites should all have the Mists of Pandaria beta client available for download through Battle.net account management, and they should all receive the email notification by end of day today. If the beta client shows up for you in Battle.net account management, you don?t need to wait for the email in order to download the client and begin testing.

We?re off to a solid start with the beta test, and things are looking good in terms of realm stability, so we?re ready to invite another wave of Annual Pass holders. A second wave of invites is going out to 100,000 more Annual Pass holders today, starting right now.

If you?re added in this or any subsequent wave, access to the beta client will show up in Battle.net account management as discussed above. Please check there today and tomorrow, as today?s wave of invites will be processing throughout the day and likely into early tomorrow morning. Notification emails will also be going out, but again, no need to wait for the email if the beta client is available to you through Battle.net account management.

I miss the old days where being in a beta test actually meant something. Now its just a way to reserve copies to maximize the initial subscriber base.

Yep.. Used to be a something to be excited about. Now it's just eh...

Beta-tested for quite a few games myself back when people actually tested them. Now it just seems like people use it to see if they like the game. They find a bug and complain about how buggy the game is based on the beta when the beta is one of the means companies use for finding bugs they missed.

In my experience (which goes back to Ultima Online beta tests), the vast majority just previewed the game and never reported much anyways, or anything beyond "this game sucks!" or "you suck for saying this game sucks".

Honestly, I wouldn't be all that pumped about beta testing anything for Blizzard given how they ignored so many bugs that were reported for expansions and patches in the past and let the bugs go live.

Don't get too excited. Most people can't even DL, install or log in. Let alone staying in the game once you get there. It has got to be the WORST beta launch of all the WoW Betas....I downloaded Vanilla on dial up and it still wasn't near as buggy or as bad as this.

Im hearing from guildmates who are in, they cant even turn the characters around in a circle before lagging out let alone try any of the starter quests. It was especially bad on Saturday after they let in another 200k.

I actually have fond memories of the AO launch. I found a lot of humor in being stuck in Tir with a couple hundred other people, all lagging and falling into the toxic waste canals of the city. Of all the betas and launches I've been in, that one will stick with me forever.

I got in. But with only 4 servers online. All I see is 6,000 Pandarians trying to do the same freakin quest.

I logged out.

[/blockquote] AO was definitely a blast I played that game for a few years, and the beta was great when you could actually control your character :P

Without rancor, malice or fanboism, I think we have become a touch spoiled. I mean, I tried STO yesterday and if I had to pay for that PoS I would VERY upset. This is a game out for years and the lag, rubber banding and random DC issues are rampant. I am usually one to give a game a week or so, but I barely lasted 4 hours before I washed my hands of it. It had potential, the the performance was just absolutely terrible.

Sometimes we take WoW for granted.

If I'm reading your point right, I disagree that we take WoW for granted. In most of the threads where people gripe about WoW but still play it, those reasons you state (low latency, fluid combat, stable engine, etc.) are exactly why people do stick around, in spite of the balance/mechanics/design decisions that have had a number of folks annoyed since Cataclysm.

I took his post to mean that, while people complain about WoW a lot, it is still one of the best games out there. By spoiled I think he meant that we as players have become used to the smooth game play we get from WoW and start expecting that from every game.

If I'm completely off base and misread his intent, I am sure he will be along to correct me. :P
