Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

They get angry that our leaders are making decisions based on information that isn't available to the public. Imagine this sequence. - An undercover spy gives super secret information to the CIA. - The CIA gives the information to the President. - The President goes on CNN and tells the whole world this super secret information. What do you think is going to happen to our spy? He's going to get his damn head chopped off is what's going to happen. And what's worse is that we're going to lose our source of information. Duh. We just have to accept that our leaders are going to be making decisions based on information that they can't share with us. There's simply no way around it.

The spies life is not more valuable than anyone else's. If the President wants to act he has to accept his actions will end lives. One of those will be the spy's. The people have a right to know. If it's truly a cause worth pursuing why is one spies life enough to cause hesitation, but not the thousands of troops and civilians that will die?

Why is that? Because you're curious? Grow up. Allstarslacker posted: If it's truly a cause worth pursuing why is one spies life enough to cause hesitation, but not the thousands of troops and civilians that will die?
Because the spy is a source of information right up until the time he gets caught. After that he's a stain on the carpet. You demand information and then insist we do away with our sources of information. Does that really make sense to you?

Even in war, we don't sacrifice individuals. No one says, "Go distract that machine gun turret by laying down your life so we can sneak past it." Soldiers die, but we make every effort to prevent their deaths. Exposing a spy would needlessly kill him, and that would be a grave injustice.
