The decision comes after Pyongyang announced a new rocket launch, which the United States says breaks the terms of a deal agreed last month. Earlier reports that the food aid plans had been put on hold were confirmed by a Pentagon official on Wednesday. Peter Lavoy told lawmakers North Korea had violated a missile test moratorium agreement and could not be trusted to deliver the aid properly.
Under the deal signed in February, North Korea agreed to a partial freeze in nuclear activities and a missile test moratorium in return for US food aid.
Mr Lavoy, acting assistant secretary of defence for Asian and Pacific affairs, told a government committee that next month's planned rocket launch "reflects [North Korea's] lack of desire to follow through on their international commitments and so we've been forced to suspend our activities to provide nutritional assistance"

Should never have started giving them food. It just let them use the unspent money to fund terrorism and make the bomb. Short sighted and really stupid policy. Not a Democrats vs. Republican failing; they both are stupid when it comes to North Korea. And Iran for that matter.

Well, if we knew for sure that it was going to go towards those who needed it the most, then yeah sure.
Unfortunately with North Korea, the "needy" will probably be the political elite and the military, not the starving peasants who are surviving on tree bark and grass. And its not like they're going to let the US or even the UN go there to observe and make sure that the food won't go directly towards their military forces and the people living in Pyongyang, and not the remote villages where people are starving.
You know the North Koreans will then just paint this as "its the US's fault you're starving to death!" rather than their really poor leadership skills. I wouldn't mind helping out North Korea, if they would keep their end of these deals, and not do stuff like build a nuclear bomb when they can't even feed their own people.
Let China feed them, seeing as how they like using North Korea as a buffer zone anyway. They can afford it now.
