In a sense that the repairs are more than the value of the car. Throttle actuator is broke, over 500 for the part and I am sure at least double for labor considering where it is located.

I almost went right into an intersection, car just is stuck on full throttle. Just barely was able to avoid hitting people. Think I am gonna get a hyundai genesis, or a Lexus IS, or a Infiniti G37

lmao, that's true. I know how to stop them for sure!

Yup, very glad no one was hurt. There was a pedestrian near by as well so it was a full on panic situation. I managed to get it back to my apartment's parking lot

I'll look at the Audi S4, I am not trying to buy new but pre-certified. Audis are a little bit more on the expensive side when it comes to repairs aren't they?

I suggest the Infiniti or something.

They've just gotten onto my list, as my car is...on its last legs.

Aye I really like the G37, the S4 is unfortunately a bit outta my price range, though I love Audis/german cars. I can afford a 2008 but that beast still has a V8 in it, which is nice but the fuel economy is worse than a SUV

Not my fault sad I knew it was going to happen someday as I was told around a year and a half ago that it would go but he never told me the throttle itself was gonna stick, just that the car wouldn't decelerate as good and the cruise control wouldn't work. The throttle sticking was something I did not anticipate.

Luckily I have experience doing Alpha-grade evasive maneuvers so no one got hit/hurt other than the years of stress i put on my heart

so what are you supposed to do in that situation? shift to neutral, brake, and turn the key off?

Yup, shift to neutral. Though at the time I pretty much slammed the break and just crept to a parking lot. I can keep it slow but I have to constantly press the break until I can get it into park. So it still does respond to breaks, albeit I know I am tearing it up further by just going a few feet

You should get a big kid vehicle like a F350 so when this happens again you do some real damage.

Don't ever buy a Toyota, especially an overpriced one. Infinity is a better option, but seriously if it's on the list; get the Hyundai.

Thank me later.

At least you realize that German cars are the best.

I do like German cars, this one I am talking about is a 1995 Mercedes E320 with over 200k miles now... I think it has served its time

Still a toss up between Infiniti and Hyundai though. A Lexus IS 250 or 350 wouldn't be too shabby though... but like you said they're practically just an overpriced Toyota

The dealership I live by just got a new STi in... they sent me a letter to come test drive it dancing .

(They are the only dealer in the state that lets you test drive STi's with out putting money down as collateral in case you wreck it on the test drive.)

Seems like the throttle was just stuck, gonna drop it by the repair shop after work today and get them to take a look at it. It wasn't stuck when I went home

The situation was that I didn't drive it all this weekend, I started it today and the throttle/engine was really slow and sluggish. Well I guess I put my foot down too fast and this might have been what caused it to stick a little and not be able to release it? We shall find out. I didn't think I did anything with it not out of the ordinary

squirt some throttle body cleaner on the cable, and in the throttle body.

and make sure your floor rug didn't move up and cause the problem.

usually with an actual stuck throttle, what you want to do is floor it for a second and release, but obviously you can't do that if you're rapidly approaching an intersection. Now that you're aware of what can happen, you'll likely be quicker to think about shifting to neutral.

Yep =\ I shouldn't have left it there. I am sure that's all that went wrong with it but I am not 100% sure

I should have checked if it was just gunked up, I don't know why I need to send it to the shop if that's all it is, I could've done it myself after I looked up how to do it on the mercedesforums. I guess at least this lets me know another thing to check before just dumping it in a mechanic shop

I don't mean I was going like 90 mph or anything, the intersection isn't a light intersection, it's a intersection of entrances to two apartment complexes in one way and a road the other, one of the cars I would've hit was parked. Still dangerous though, there was a dude walking around but he was well safe away. It wasn't that bad though, I spent more time trying to ruin my breaks going back to my parking lot though.

I guess I sort of dramatized this way too much after reading it more... I'm more excited to have an excuse to start looking for a new car
