Subject: AC Client stops working when I run Lifetank
It crashes every time on initial log-in. If I turn lifetank off, decal runs fine with mini-radar. Here is the export file. As always, thanks for the help.

lifetank has NOT been updated in years, yet you expect it to keep working thru change after change.

good luck with that.

there is an old saying, adapt or die. go manual or vtank.

Subject: AC Client stops working when I run Lifetank
LifetankX v11.9.0.9 installs and runs just fine. In fact, I've never NOT been able to get LTx to run on any machine since 2007 or so.

Yes, it has not been updated in 4 years, but I'm actually in the process of doing that.. no new features, just updating it, and I realize why Xeon stopped working on it after the Tier 7 loot made ID'ing weapons a complete PITA. It's going to be awhile...

That all being said, if you want to use LTx, you will need to make sure all the necessary support libraries are installed. It looks like you are running Win 7 32bit, which means everything listed on Xeon's page (http://www.reality.net/ac/xx/) under 'Program Requirements' should install fine for you. Make sure that anything installed is installed as Administrator. Honestly, my best advice would be to make sure any and all anti-virus programs are paused, and you can also temporarily suspend the User Account Control (UAC). Here's how you do that: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/Turn-User-Account-Control-on-or-off

You can re-enable UAC after verifying your install is working. Anything that comes as a .msi will not require Administrator rights (it's not even an option on a right-click flyout menu), but any and all .exe's you will need to right-click and select 'Run as Administrator'.

It probably can't hurt to run the VB 6 Redistributable from Microsoft. It will ensure you have all the necessary stuff to run a VB 6 application.
http://www.microsoft.com/download/en/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=24417

So here's the rundown:

1. Use add/remove programs and uninstall Lifetank X
2. Open your Decal config and verify that Lifetank X -and- DarksideFilter (in the Filters section) are no longer listed.
3. Close any unnecessary programs, especially AC and Decal
4. [optional but recommended] Turn OFF User Account Control
5. Go through Yaroz's list of necessary libraries and scripts here (very top post):
http://vnboards.ign.com/ac_utilities/b5432/113031404/p1/?48
Ignore any marked 64bit
NOTE: When installing some of these things, you -might- get a dialogue box warning you of compatibility issues, click run anyways.
Make sure anything you can run as Administrator is run as Administrator

At this point, you will have installed everything listed on Xeon's site, EXCEPT the MS Script 5.6. Get that from his link, and install as Administrator.

Now re-boot your machine, load Decal, load AC and verify that's working well. Shut all of that down
Run the Lifetank X 11.9.0.9 msi installer. For the install path, make it C:\Games\Lifetank X
Load Decal and verify that Lifetank X and DarksideFilter are listed, and checked. I would uncheck ALL the other plugins, except Decal Hotkeys. Run AC.
Does it work? If so, logout, re-enable all the other plugins and run AC again. Does it work or crash? If it crashes, there's a plugin conflict.

If you disabled UAC, re-enable it, and test again.

By the way, if you run through all of this, re-post a Decal export. Hopefully this will change:
