Republican overreach will destroy them this election. I know many of you are just as stupid as the average American, and that's pretty damn stupid, and that many of you believe the crap being spewed by the talking heads and you suck up disinformation much more quickly and hold it much more dearly than actual facts...so you will never be swayed by reality, and instead cling ever more tightly to your fantasies. You are a microcosm of the country as a whole, and at this point it's actually almost possible to believe that a Republican nominee has a chance.....if you believe the hype.
The hype is bull however. It ignores the fact that Republican led attacks on women in every state where they hold a majority in state government are being forced thru. Anti-abortion, anti-contraceptive, anti-family leave, anti-equal pay, anti-access to health care......anti-anti-anti-everything.
This trend is not going unnoticed, and fury over it is growing. Yes, apparently even a goodly portion of the women in this country hate women and wish those "sluts" would shut the hell up and get back in the kitchen. But a "goodly portion" is nowhere near a majority, and it includes almost no women under the age of 50. The embrace of circa 1700 "family values" by the Republican party is their death knell.
This election, as usual, will be less about the candidate running for the office, and more about the views and goals of the party the candidate represents. Republican equals "women shut up and realize you are just like a gay man, not worth a god damn thing". Democrat equals "we aren't really sure but at least we don't hate gays and women".
Now, I'm sure many of you think there are plenty enough idiots in this country to allow the Republican party to win elections even with their abomination of a platform, hell look at what they did just 2 years ago right?
But they have screwed the pooch on this one. Too far, massive overreach, and they aren't going to let up. By election time, they will be openly pushing to force women to submit to rape and then she should either kill herself or, preferably, wait 9 months to have her rapists child...THEN kill herself.
Even most Americans aren't that stupid.

I think Obama will win.
Even from steadfast republicans I have heard not one single thing people are excited about in Romney's agenda. They just seem to have a vague idea that he ran a successful company, is a Christian, is rich, and otherwise is just a random Republican.
With McCain at least there was a decent list of things that even democrats could quickly agree he was a pretty standup guy, and (some) republicans could get excited about him.

I will start voting Republican again when they really are fiscally conservative, all the current Republican candidates will put us in an even greater deficit condition than Obama if re-elected, based on their insistence on reduced taxation.
Saying Obama spending is out of control, should also be compared against how Hoover handled the Depression, his position largely the same as current Republicans say they would follow, didn't work, and had that been repeated we'd all probably be in a much sorrier state than we are in today.

The media squawked for two solid weeks about the GOP wanting to deny women contraception.
NO candidate for the GOP has proposed this or brought this up. The only time it became an issue is when Nancy Pelosi invited a woman to speak at a committee meeting and a conservative radio talk show host made inflammatory remarks about her. The left collectively had a cow about it and now the accepted story outcome is that the GOP wants to end contraception.
The fact that it isn't true doesn't trouble the left at all. The sad part is that this seems to happen all the time and no one blinks an eye about it.

This HAS come up. Republicans have been bringing this up and outlets such as Fox have been bringing clergymen onto their shows to ramp up the insanity. Questions have been asked at rallies, at debates, and in interviews that deal with contraception. Loud crowds during Republican debates have booed as candidates respond to questions about contraception. Rick Santorum is NOTORIOUS for his views regarding contraception. He has been consistent for at least 10 years.
It's in plain sight that these people are on the brink of what 2012 calls insanity.
You and I had a brief but reasonable discussion regarding media doing anything and everything for ratings. You can't acknowledge that media outlets try to get ratings but at the same time claim that EVERYTHING has a liberal slant to it.

You have Obama mention any government management of healthcare and Republicans blow it up into death panels and full blown socialism.
You have Santorum and other Republican figures talk about how contraception is a "grievous moral wrong" and wanting to allow any insurance company/business to deny coverage.
The Republicans are lot more involved in the obfuscation of the opposition (including Rhodoman), and their extreme statements show a much higher willingness to go down a slippery slope.
Not that I think they could go too far down that slope before the constitution stopped them, but they would want to.
