So... anyone ever use that kind of stuff before? Balding seems to happen in my family, my dad is balding, my granddad is/was balding on both sides. Trying to stop that from happening to me. I am not balding or anything yet but there has been some thinning over the course of the last few years. It comes and goes.
Anyone ever use this stuff? About to try to find a dermatologists (that's how I see, right?) to get me some.

My brother is bald and I can convince myself that I see the thinning hair on top, but I'm sticking with denial for now. Personally I'm gonna opt for the keep the hair cut really short, grow a beard, and have a distractingly fit body option. Seems cheaper and better in the long run...

Huh?? I thought it is supposed to prevent prostate cancer? Right now as is my chances of getting prostate cancer is MUCH higher due to how much free testosterone I have. I've been doing cardio and yoga to reduce my reductase but it really is having almost no effect so far.
In wikipedia is says it could decrease prostate cancer by up to 30%. It does increase male breast cancer though... which breast cancer also runs in my family

Hmmm, this is what is from wikipedia:
It appeared (incorrectly) that finasteride increased the specificity and selectivity of prostate cancer detection, thus creating an apparently increased rate of high Gleason grade tumor. A 2008 update of this study found that finasteride reduces the incidence of prostate cancer by 30%. In the original study, it turns out that the smaller prostate caused by finasteride means that a doctor is more likely to hit upon cancer nests and more likely to find aggressive looking cells. Most of the men in the study who had both low and high-grade prostate cancer chose to be treated, and many had their prostates removed. A pathologist then carefully examined each of those 500 prostates and compared the kinds of cancers found at surgery to those initially diagnosed at biopsy. This study concluded that finasteride did not increase the risk of high-grade prostate cancer

Exercise has helped. Also my hair actually, weirdly enough, looks considerably thicker when I have it cut shorter. The longer it is the more thin it looks. Just something I've noticed. I also already used Nioxin shampoo which helps reduce DHT everyday, I take biotin supplements and I also used to sometimes used Nizoral shampoo as well
I don't wanna lose my hair I was in a pretty bad motorcycle accident when I was young so my head isn't exactly fit for the bald look

I've been taking propecia/finasteride for about 4 years now. My brother has been on it for the better part of a decade, I think.
It works amazingly. But only on the crown of your head. The Captain Picard of your head is unaffected.
I've had zero side effects. Neither has my brother.
He would be completely bald on the top of his head if he did not take it. He used to wear hats all the time, it was so thin. Now, he has a full head of hair.
I started taking it when I noticed thinning. I don't know if I'd be completely bald, and if it cost more than $5 a month, I'm sure I'd find out.
Propecia is a 1mg Finasteride pill.
Finasteride is a 5mg pill designed to shrink the prostate.
According to my doctor, low-dose finasteride decreases your chance of prostate cancer, while increasing instances of detection.
The only downside to propecia is that 1% of people get sexual side effects. Those side effects supposedly go away when you stop taking the drug.

Thanks, that is exactly what I am looking for. Glad the results worked awesome for you. I was going to do what some have recommended online, getting 5mg tablets of Propecia and cutting them into 5 pieces.
So no side effects you've noticed? That is good to hear. I am still cautious on the whole prostate cancer thing but with my levels of natural free testosterone I am already at a high risk, so if something could lower that also that would be great. I'm gonna start looking for dermatologists right now. That's who wrote you your Rx wasn't it?
That's exactly where I need it too. The crown on my head. It is embarrassing cause I know it is visible from the back. Having that again would be awesome, i'd be bad [meant "back"... odd freudian slips I've been having recently...] looking like I was in high school:

I got the prescription from my regular sports doctor, who was treating me for tendonitis in the wrist and elbow. He does my physicals, 'scripts, etc.
Until he just retired...so now I have to find a new one....
