Why are laugh tracks still used?

Too many not funny shows have used them to act like they're funny 
I'm always surprised when a new show is using it, but I guess the success of two and a half men and big bang theory didnt help.

I dont get why people like it so much. It's repetitive humor and bazinga. Most of it needs the laugh track.

I find big bang theory pretty funny as well. It does get a little bit repetitive but I enjoyed watched through all the seasons. How I met your mother has been growing on me lately.
