In the Android (4.0) Storage settings there is a "Format SD" and right below that "Eject SD".

So naturally one would assume the "Format SD" would refer to the external SD card right? Nooooope, that formats your internal SD. They really need to specific which "SD" they are referring to. Kinda annoying the internal storage gets refereed to as "SD" on Android.

As my might be able to infer, I just erased a bunch of stuff I wish I hadn't. Haha. tongue

Ouch, I don't know if I could laugh that off myself. Please write them about their design choice.

Still using CyanogenMod 7 (Android 2.3.7) so I guess I'm safe wink
I could flash an Android 4 ROM, but mine is stable... if it's not broken, don't fix it.

EDIT:
I just checked, there are actually the same options in my ROM.
I'm 100% sure it erases the external, not built into the phone SD though (the one I added by inserting it in a slot under the battery cover). Maybe it's an Android 4.0 bug?

EDIT2:
If you have a card reader on your PC or Mac, I recommend this to clean up / format / erase your SD cards:
http://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/
Way more efficient than any build in eraser, and it can even reclaim some unused space (Format Size Adjustment).

Not sure if Nandroid backs up the "sdcard" partition where things like music, videos, and pictures are kept. I have a nandroid backup (a month old), but it looks a bit small.

I don't think I lost anything I can't replace. TitantiumBackup is synced to Dropbox, my Kindle books are synced, my Music and Videos are on my PC. Most of my pictures are sync (lost some though).

The main hassle is having to copy everything back over. So I didn't need to cry myself to sleep last night. Still annoying. Annoyed with myself because I knew that storage menu was funky and annoyed with Google that it's funky in the first place. happy
