Was in Ottowa with Mrs. Tali a few summers ago to visit her family and go to a wedding. We took a day to go sightseeing. At some point in the day we were just across the river from Quebec (looking at some building - government office of some type?) and this very cute French-Canadian came up to me and start yammering away in French. At some point I held up my hand and said something along the lines of 'I'm sorry miss, I don't speak french'.
She fracking lost it. Threw a fit. Literally had a spaz fit in front of me.
I obviously upset her and had NFC why. I tried to talk to her and she eventually started to listen and actually hear me (I have a fairly thick drawl.) She put two and two together, figured out I was an American and proceeded to have a very pleasant conversation with me about the city. Totally did a 180 on the spot. Went from Wicked Witch of the West to Good Witch of the East.
My wife had to explain to me what that was all about. I was totally puzzled. `
