Subject: More Republican Primary Fun
The Republicans just had their caucus in Missouri. They had their primary in Feb., but, that didn't count for anything. Even the caucuses don't really decide anything. They choose delegates and, in a few months, those delegates will decide who to vote for. Who the people voted for doesn't count at all.

Anyway, the caucasus didn't go all that smoothly...

Before even the opening prayer, police were called in to the caucus in St. Charles County to remove a video camera set up by a Paul supporter against the local rules, said Eugene Dokes, the country Republican chairman. Things went downhill from there. Caucus participants "started to become verbally aggressive with event organizers and police officers," said St. Peters Police Officer Melissa Doss.
"It definitely got wild," Dokes said. "I had to tell a number of people not to approach me, not to come from behind me and not to scream at me. I think there was the possibility of someone trying to inflict personal injury or harm to me."

Two off-duty St. Peters police officers, who had been hired for the event by Republicans, called in for support from five law enforcement agencies, including the Missouri State Highway Patrol. A police helicopter arrived at the scene. Dokes made a motion to adjourn the caucus, and two people were arrested for trespassing after they refused to leave, police said.
.
.
.
A police officer also helped hush the crowd during recounts at a caucus at a Christian school in St. Louis County, where Santorum began the day at a rally with about 100 people. Local Republican leaders who organized the caucus supported Santorum, but Talent — who lives in the township — helped lead a spirited push for Romney.
"We need a dynamic, vigorous, strong, decisive executive leader, and my experience with Mitt Romney — having gotten to know him over the last four years— is that is exactly what he is," Talent told the caucus.
Then township committeewoman Judy Hon took the microphone, telling the crowd that Romney supporters had teamed up with Paul's camp on their slate of delegates. She decried Paul as not being "pro-life" and suggested he had been endorsed by the "Muslim Brotherhood." The slate of Santorum candidates prevailed in a close vote after a recount.

it would have been really cool if it had been a black helicopter.

The Republican Convention might actually be worth watching this year. grin

But, but...screaming matches! Helicopters! Right wingers calling each other agents of the Muslim Brotherhood! Superdelegates chosen in the smoke filled rooms of lore trying to push Romney over the top. Tea Partiers, probably all armed, screaming about the establishment's power play! All the delegates from the caucus states who are pledged to vote for their guy for the first round, but are unpledged after that, taking off their suits to show they are all wearing Ron Paul T-Shirts! I'll bet, if Romney looks as though he'll be short of the number of delegates he needs to win on the first ballot, there'll be arguments to seat ALL the delegates from states like Michigan that were penalized for moving their primary up. Chaos ensues! More helicopters!

Not to mention all the fights over the platform. Social conservatives are going to push to put in every far right social issue they can think of. The sane Republicans are going to try to point out that that might mean losing EVERY state, except, maybe South Carolina. They'll have to bring back helicopters from Afghanistan, loaded with sharpshooters with tranquilizing darts, to try to control rampaging libertarians.

Can't wait!

Stock up on your pop corn. It's going to be a fun time to be a Democrat. <g>

Me? We haven't even had our primary yet (may 8). No way would I vote for any of those chuckleheads. Paul maybe, but he's unelectable. I liked Gingrich until he turned out to be all talk (boy was I disillusioned) about 20 years ago.

I'll skip the primary and likely write in Bill Still in November.

Oh yes it was the first time I could vote in a primary in a long time and the toss up was between Romney and Santorum. I picked Romney. But never voted for him in an election. I am not saying I am not going to vote for him for president or not. Just that I've never voted for him in an election.

It's to early to decide who I am voting for. I don't care for Romney and not sure about Obama. I'll probably vote third party or write in this time.

You will probably not vote for Romney, but you did vote for Romney. You voted for W Bush. Who are you trying to persuade? Your actions speak louder than words? You talk up a social left agenda, but tend to fall right when it comes to ballot day. Its just a fact not a moral indictment. In the past I have moralized about the idiocy of the right and it is usually me missing a bigger target.

A fiscal conservative campaigning for actual smaller government. Since Johnson jumped parties, he's not even going to get the Libertarian nod though.

He's also for FairTax, but I can live with that. Least it would be easy to dodge taxes that way.

I don't even know WTF a "raisin eater" means.

The temp chairman Dokes broke the rules of the party and robert's rules of order. He had already been voted out of the chairman position before he adjourned without doing any party business. He is a Santorum supporter and everyone knew that he would shut the convention down before allowing Ron Paul and Romney supporters to appoint legally and process followed delegates.

This is why those republicans whining about ID voter fraud are so idiotic. We have voter fraud rampant and in everyone's face at the GOP primary level and few of them every do anything about it.
