It is actually built off the Challenger:
The HPP Superbird is, obviously, built over a modern Dodge Challenger, which, coincidentally, has the same wheelbase as the '70 Superbird.

And no, I won't do that with my Challenger. As cool of a car as it is and as valuable as they are I have always thought they were ugly. We had a gas station in NC in the early 70s. One of our customers had one. It was cool, just not for me.
