I thought Icewind Dale was one of the most boring games I have ever played.
They didn't even bother with the pretense of a story, I felt like I was playing a zero effort player made mod of Baldur's Gate.

I loved bg 1-2 and the expansions I thought Ice Wind Dale 1 and 2 were awesome!
I remember being stuck in that dwarf fortress because I could not figure out how to open the passage down through the floor in that circular trap room..
I also had to go over that elven fortress several times because I missed one of the gears for that occular thing in the tower..
Fun times, games that did not cater to retards who need a f'kin arrow pointing the way for them all the fucking time.. That gaming became Mainstream is the worst that's f'kin happened ever! Lets face it it's almost all shite after 2000 it's just one rehashed shitpile after another.. bleh!

The best part of IWD was that you could make your own party but that meant they were all boring. The story was also far weaker than the BG ones.
It was still fun though. BG2 was the best because you could make your whole party or not.

Did anyone try ToEE? Temple of Elemental Evil? If not I'd recommend it over a BG or IWD replay. It's like 2 bucks online and the game is amazing.

Minsc was awesome!
I just downloaded Planescape: Torment but I haven't installed it yet. I've heard nothing but great things! IWD was nicer in that you could make your own party, but yea, the story compared to Baldur's Gate 2 was pretty weak.

Minsc is pretty much the worst video game character ever, though I'm hardly surprised the vast majority of gamers find a mentally handicapped man with a fetish for hamsters endearing.
And what story? Some elf kidnaps the most annoying cunt on the planet and then, when you sort of shrug and go "whatever, who cares?" and start doing other things the game forces you into the most godawful dream sequences this side of Mass Effect 3. "HAHAHA, you thought you could escape your annoying comrade but NO! I am sending her directly into your dreams, listen to her shrill voice!" The only compelling reason to complete the main quest was to just make the dreams stop.
