This is actually a good website and helps do a decent job demonstrating the serious nature of the recession. Also look at the Clinton/Bush 9/11 recession and recovery. That is a rather telling thing as well. The economy never really recovered the way we wanted it to after that recession and then the next recession came.

We are still in a new period which is defined by globalization, growing debt, higher healthcare costs, and higher energy prices which started based on a lot of choices that Clinton made.

When you compare all eleven recessions on one line graph, it is amazing that what we're going through now isn't called a Depression instead.

Depression doesnt have a standard definition like Recession does.

It is associated with the 1930's event and while the current economic situation is bad, it is really not even close to the economic damage in the 1930's. This is the reason most people arent using the term right now.

I think the standard definition in 2012 is: If you are working, it is a Recession. If you are unemployed, it is a Depression.
