Its possible to make one small bomb made of matter and anti matter which could rip the atmosphere off a planet

Knowing how crazy humanity was how long would it last with such power in his hands?

When Werner von Braun and the rest of the SS-Waffen cadré which were employed by NASA and the Atomic Energy Commission fired off the first hydrogen bomb there was a very real concern and theory that the bomb might make all the hydrogen on earth react turning Earth into a new sun.

Scientist now a days have a lot more moral guidelines and regulations for what they get to do and tinker with, I don't think it's a concern at all.

If it would happen we would not care either way grin

It is for these reasons and more that humanity needs to start reaching into space and securing more real estate.

MUCH more real estate.

Think of it as insurance.

If I was getting blown up in a world destroying bomb I don't think I'd give a crap whether or not there were humans living on some other world who might survive.

I could do it with 2 strong magnets, a particle accelerator and a few other singularity production tools along with a huge supply of energy. CERN could do it tomorrow. Even by accident!

But if, when, we create such a device or enact such circumstances, we'd die pretty quick. I'll go find the link to a documentary on it.

the universe will be a better place if humanity is kept on earth for it's entire existence. though earth will suffer greatly for it.

scientists are douchebags and morons.

here is another attempt several years later: http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v193/n4819/abs/193963a0.html
they detonated a nuclear device in the ionosphere. many scientists expected a global holocaust.

WTF?!
The fact that they got you to go "WTF" was the whole point of them doing that, because otherwise they have nothing going on in their lives that matters in a narcissistic world. People popularly do little to support cultural items of real worth when any society has too many people. That is not me quoting scientific studies, that is me giving an opinion based on what I have observed of humans all over the world. If I had the time, money, training and whatever else I needed, I would like to put that opinion to the test.

Already read that book. Scientists dropped a teeny-tiny stable black hole out of their lab and in a few hundred years it ate the earth.
