Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

I used to hate Southwest but now I fly them a lot. This trip I used Alaksa. What a mistake. I've had to change my flights twice...it's cost me $350 on a $700 ticket. They charge 100 to change anything, and pretend like the have to reissue your whole ticket regardless of request. I asked the lady why and she told me, "FAA regulations." Bullshit. They why doesn't Southwest do it? I just went through this and she said, "OK, we've canceled that flight and you get a $250 credit. That will be $100.00." "Ma'am, did you hear what you just said? That makes zero sense." "Yes Sir." "Tell you what. I'll just miss my flight and save the $100." "Then we would cancel your final flight from Portland Sir. If you miss any leg without changing we will cancel your whole ticket." "...............Let me guess, you are going to tell me that this is an FAA regulation too. How does it feel to be a Pirate Ma'am? Tell you what, make the changes and tell the people who are listening to the recording that I will fly Southwest exclusively from now on. I hope they enjoy their $100.00." Airlines have gotten worse and worse. $100 just to change anything. Anything to make an extra buck. Some of them are charging for blankets. If Southwest can't get me there I am driving. F these predatory SOB's.

Southwest is pretty awesome, but I rarely fly them because they are almost always out of Midway. Midway is a great airport for a small airport and I like it as well, but it is easily an hour drive, and that can double in rush hour. So I usually settle for United out of O'Hare, which is maybe twenty minutes, usually less.
But I have heard the same kind of crap about Alaska from several people.

USAir starts with "Us". Northwest Air starts with "NO!" Southwest Air starts with "So..." I don't know what that means but I know one time a buddy was forced to check his video camera bag on a Northwest flight from PA to FL and of course it never arrived in FL for his vacation... As for the rest about Airlines in general, yep, they're scumfcuks of the first order, and of them all, Southwest has been the best that I've flown for non-business. Continental used to be pretty awesome when I flew for business a lot but that was in the early 2000s...

If ignorance were painful, half the posters here would be on morphine drips. Everyone playing WoW knows everything about playing two classes: 1) their own and 2) Hunters

Virgin Air was the best airline I've flown recently. Southwest is pretty good but I haven't flown with them in a few years, but I will be come next month. American Airlines, refused to help me when I missed my flight recently, just because I bought it from priceline.com. They wouldn't credit my paid ticket towards the new one. I was going to have to buy it flat out and they insisted on me paying $560 for a new ticket. I ended up flying U.S Airways for $200 and the ticketing agent told me that the airlines bet on people missing flights and not refunding or crediting their tickets back. It's how they make money. That's why any cheap flight is always marked non-refundable, non-changeable and a ticket that is flexible is three times the cost.

I've picked up a few free flights last year with the apparent standardization of overbooking flights through major hubs. I have yet to fly through Denver without either the flight out or back being overbooked.
