For me, rabbits, squirrels, quail, duck, goose, pheasant, chickens, turkeys, pigs, deer, and that's all that comes to mind at the moment. I would have included cows, but we always had the slaughterhouse come pick them up still living.

That is what I want. Not so much 70 acres (though I'd like 10 at least) but a huuuuuge garden, and a small orchard. Enough to supply my family with all the vegetables and fruits we'd need for a year. Depending on where we lived I'd still have to buy some things, like avocados and citrus fruits (unless I could work in a greenhouse somehow) but the majority would be from our own place.
I'd also like some animals (chickens definitely, not sure yet what else).

Literally dozens of canned tomatoes and green beans. Flour, sugar....stuff like that we bought. We had our own milk cow too and made out own butter.

Yep that's pretty much exactly what I envision, only hopefully having the fruit trees and berries on our own place to minimize the picking and buying at another farm (though that is always more economical than the store). Yeah I don't think I would bother with corn or wheat or anything like that- just buy those few things. And I would love to have a cow for milk and butter (maybe a couple of goats too!), but although I know how to take care of chickens, ducks and geese I know virtually nothing about caring for cows, so I would have a lot to learn for sure.

Eh, it's not hard. Provide water year around and in the winter time keep hay out and give them some range cubes. If you have any that are pregnant you will probably have to learn to pull them, but it's really very easy. If you're getting one ready for slaughter a lot of people will put it in a stall and feed it grain. We never did though. You can give the young ones B12 shots too. And other shots. For the normal stuff you don't need a vet. And, someone will have to learn to cut the young bulls.

The type of dog was Nureongi and it was served just like this:
I did not know I was eating Kegogi (dog meat in Korean) as I was told it was a specially made Bulgogi (beef in Korean). I was told what it really was after we ate it by my Korean friends. They were trying to play a joke on me.

Squirrel, deer, rabbit, turkey, chicken, pig....think that's it. Never been into hunting, but I tried it as a kid. Slaughtered a LOT of pigs and chickens in my day.
We have a huge multi-family garden here. We can a ton of stuff, I still have quarts and quarts of tomatoes, squash, pickles, sauerkraut, assorted giardiniera, corn, Brussels Sprouts, and beans from last year. Freezer full of rabbit, deer, and wild turkey (we trade produce for wild game).
My sister grows almost all her own food. She also raises more than 200 chickens and sells both eggs and poultry. She trades for some things (she doesn't grow wheat, corn, or rice). Built a huge greenhouse on her property a couple of years ago. Chickens stay in there during the winter, and she farms earthworms in it. Any meat they have (besides chicken and rabbit) they trade produce for (or are given, she gets a LOT of free venison). Sells a ton of stuff at farmers markets, bakes her own breads (after grinding the flour herself). Waaaaay too much work for me, but she seems to love it.

That's awesome ptilk. I don't know if I want to go quite to that extent (definitely not farmer's markets) but it sounds pretty close to what I want. Best times I ever had were working with the chickens and garden on my mom's place, and then my own gardens. So very satisfying to me.
Reap, I don't really want more than one cow, maybe two- and I mean cows. No males! So yeah would definitely have to know how to care for them when pregnant, etc. apart from normal care. I hadn't really thought about what we would do with the calves. What do people usually do, if you don't plan to keep them? I'm not a big veal fan, personally.

70 acres is no where near as big as you think it is. I used to live on a 200 acre farmstead... Mostly woods, but we had at least 10 acres of fields. We raised a couple cows a year, went deer, grouse, pheasant, and turkey hunting every year. Never did raise any chickens... We thought about it though.
No one in my family were really farmers, but when you have that much land you may as well try to be a little bit self-sufficient.

Not many, actually. I hunted a lot as a kid and in my early teens, but I sucked at it.
Mainly just osteichthyes, bivalves and crustaceans. I think I took down a deer and ate it once when I was about 10, but I'm pretty sure my dad actually got the shot.

Rabbits are pretty tasty though, and I ate several of those while younger.
I don't think I've had dove. My dad hunts them sometimes, but the amount of food on a dove makes them worth less than the shell that kills them imo...

I like squirrel a lot. most of the meat is from their legs (the breast has some, but not much)...a little flour on them and fry them suckers up. The problem with squirrel (at least down south where I am) is that the bugs are still out real bad when squirrel season is up, so you get lots of flies...plus it's hot usually. seems like when you see the most squirrels is when you go deer hunting though lol.

Besides fish, never have and probably never will unless I was plunged into some apocalyptic scenario. Even then, I would become kind of a vegetarian (seafood, dairy, eggs are ok), until I became more accustomed to the rest.
It also depends on how much I was involved with the catching and killing/preparing of the food. If I was handed a filet to cook, I should be ok.
If I was required to shoot to kill some animal or I was handed over the body of some animal to process...then I would have serious issues. I'm sure that my hesitations would be completely gone after trying to survive in the wild for some serious amount of time.
