http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0002049/

My dad went to the hospital last week because he was sick (sinus infection), disoriented, dizzy, vomitting, and couldn't stand (due to being dizzy, bad case of vertigo is how he described it)- he was literally crawling to get around.

He's an insanely healthy man, so something like this would obviously scare us, so we called 911 and he enjoyed an ambulance ride to the hospital where the doctor told us that it's "bad luck" that this happened.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, or knows someone else who has. I just found it ironic that it mentioned cholesteatoma considering that's what I had when I was a kid and can explain why I have symptoms - obviously self-diagnosed.

This thread begs the question: do the "women" of ACF use a funnel to get that much sand in their vagina or do they just slide around the beach like an angry Roomba? -deadcactus-

to lazy to click the link but isn't that where the stones in your ears get lose and give you constant vertigo? if so, yes i had that bad for a while last year and it occasionally comes and goes. possible to get used to it but i'd not drive if it was happening thats for sure. i'm not easy to get upset to the stomach from vertigo either though so if its causing upset stomach i'm sure its alot worse to deal with.

Had it a couple of times. One time my boss wouldn't let me take time off to go to the doctor. I told her I didn't feel safe driving to work but she didn't care. Luckily I only worked 4 miles away so I just hugged the white line and kept one eye closed and made it ok. While I was in the office I was stumbling around really bad and at one point was walking through a doorway and nailed the edge with my shoulder which subsequently knocked me on my ass. She finally conceded to let me go to the doc.

Got the doc to write me a note stating that I was not to return to work for 3 days tongue

I never had that per se but I did have vertigo for a few days and my Dr. just said he didn't know what was causing it but that it would go away. It was really scary though. Even tilting my head back to take a drink of pop would send my head spinning. Or I would be driving and look over my shoulder too fast and almost pass out.

they're actually chips of something like bone, that is the ear rocks that I was talking about. they usually are lodged in a canal, but sometimes they float loose.

They gave him the same - anti-nausea, and anti-dizzy pills. He's been feeling better, but the lingering sensation is still around. He's getting pissy cause he can't go fly his plane >.<

One of my friends just had that real bad for a couple days. She got anti-nausea meds, but there are actually people who can do exercises with you to put the rocks back where they belong. She had the dizziness and nausea, too. Most doctors won't recommend these type of people, since they don't make any money off it, but it might be worth looking for.
