Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

I kinda hope it keeps going on. I still like the Simpsons a lot of times. Their humor gets updated Better than most of the other crap on TV anyhow. It'd be a shame to get rid of one of the shows that's actually worth watching these days

South Park has changed a lot since the early days, its much more topical/gimmicky these days. But it still has its moments. Its at least still culturally relevant, unlike the Simpsons. It would be madness to slaughter a cash cow. Madness! But who knows what a couple of Canadians will do, those people are savages.

Like others have said, the occasional edginess that South Park still provides keeps it fresh. Because of that I don't see them turning out like The Simpsons. At least not for awhile.

South Park may not go as long as The Simpsons....but as long as they stick with going full on parody/making-fun-of all the current stuff we read on CNN/REDDIT/Other news outlets.... They will go the distance for a long time.

I'm not saying COULD they. They most certainly could. The question is - will they? Am I the only one who noticed the sub-text of their last season? Funnybot? Stan becoming cynical? Yes, that's right. Subtext in south park. WHAT OF IT, BITCHES!? Lol, I'm not saying there's been subtext in south park this whole time, although there is in a way, just nothing worth noticing. This subtext however seemed blatant and the implications made it worth noticing.

Didn't they re-sign an unusually long contract for like 5 more seasons recently?

yes...didn't they also have an episode about subtext and how all it is is subliminal messaging meant to get wives to give their husbands blowjobs? I thought the cynical episodes just meant that the South Park characters were maturing and Matt/Trey meant for the characters to grow and evolve, unlike a show like the Simpsons.

They sold out? I thought they pretty much said it was over when they censored 201.

I'm not saying I didn't like them, in fact I just watched the 2 cynical episodes again today, that's what inspired this post.. And yeah you're right I forgot about the broadway one lol. Its why I said I'm glad they have another 5 seasons, because I liked where it was going. I just thought they might have been sick of making south park and hoped I was wrong.

I think everyone, and themselves, are starting to expect too much of them that it clouds their creative minds. Or perhaps they stopped dropping acid. Either way, last season wasn't the most amazing one for sure but it still wasn't that bad at all. It's even better after I rewatch them. I wish I could watch episode 200 and 201 again, they even blocked the jesus friends now I think . Thin skinned douches in the world =\
