It makes about as much sense as covering contraceptives with health insurance.

I got complementary roadside assistance so I am sure if I called the 1-800 number they would send out some oil if I needed it.

I mean they will fix a flat or bring me 5 gallons of gas at no charge.

This would actually be a valid question if said coverage would cover engine damage. Otherwise it's a silly question.

Both are maintenance items. You don't need birth control to live. I could go on and on. Should auto insurance cover new tires? How about new brakes? You need those to prevent accidents. How about health insurance covering healthy foods? Oh and should Aflac pay for your gym membership? Why not just cover everything in our life with insurance?

Apparently you don't have life insurance because that is not what it does at all.

umm yeah it does. the last policy I had, also had a whole section covering dismemberment and other disabling injuries, that would pay out.

Wow. So your life insurance covered grocery bills, clothing purchases, furniture, college tuition, hotels, air fare, and so on? Wow, I gotta take another look at my life insurance I might be missing out on a lot.

You don't need regular checkups to live. Or pain killers. Or really a lot of things that health insurance covers.

Birth control can reduce or stop the amount of bleeding we do. If you had an open wound that kept bleeding every month you'd have a doctor try to stop it from bleeding, and that would be covered by your health insurance.

No one said anything about injuries but you. I said maybe insurance should cover EVERYTHING in life. As in EVERYTHING. As in walk into a store when you are feeling fine, show your insurance card and clean out the store. Yeah. Insurance like that. Get it now?

Sure. I mean after all, health insurance covers checkups, well-visits, immunizations, and other routine health maintenance care, so why shouldn't auto insurance cover this aspect of vehicle maintenance?

Health insurance doesn't cover healthy food or vitamins, but then auto insurance doesn't cover gasoline either.

Well maybe it all should be covered. Especially with gasoline going up to $4! We should be able to get as much as we want for the same insurance rates we pay now!

It makes about as much sense as covering contraceptives with health insurance.

You obviously have no clue what auto insurance is or what it does. It won't cover a breakdown, let alone maintenance.

If you choose catastrophic health insurance then no, birth control shouldn't be covered. As you're insured against an emergency situation, accident or serious health issue only.

If you choose whole health insurance, yes birth control should be covered, like a warranty package covers all things that go wrong with a car over the life of the coverage.
