All animals can attack.. Hell cats do it all the time, and if the cat was the size of a Pitbull it would do damage. Selective breeding can only do so much to quell the instincts of animals and Pitbulls and breeds like it have a tenacity towards violence more so then say a golden retriever which does not mean that a golden can't snap and hurt someone.
In most cases it's the dumbass humans who don't know how to train and discipline the animal properly, that means that a pitbull is a responsibility that I don't think all humans can handle, and other humans should not have to suffer because the few feel that they have the right to own a unpredictable animal which can harm other people.
I say that breeds like the pitbull etc should not be allowed there isn't a need for them.

You could say that about any dog over 75 lbs.
I've known 5 pitbulls in my life. They were all strong as bulls and gentle as kittens.
A dog like that can protect your loved ones.
Hell My Sisters Dobie could rip you a new one in a heartbeat. She's much more likely to sit there and hope for a treat.

Checked nope it's legal unless the animal is hurt then it goes under animal cruelty. It's gross but I see no reason to legislate against it.. My morality on sex does not let me curtail the freedoms of other people.

I've seen pits that were raised poorly. My old roommates got two. They clipped their ears and tails, put chains around their necks to try to bulk them up and gave them bowling pins for chew toys. They were mostly affectionate with them one-on-one and didn't actually make them learn to fight, so their efforts to raise badass street dogs were mostly unsuccessful. Then a meth-head dropped off a bitch in heat in our yard. The dogs nearly killed each other and should have been destroyed shortly thereafter, but they weren't. I joined the Army shortly after that and lost touch with them. The dogs probably never hurt anyone again, but there was enough that had happened taht I wouldn't trust my kid around them.
The bitch had puppies, though, and my brother adopted one. She was an amazingly sweet dog. I remember one tense encounter with an old "friend" who dropped by when I was on leave. I didn't trust the guy at all, and Alice plopped herself down for a nap right in between the two of us. At one point he made a sudden, excited move and Alice immediately jumped up and growled at him. I barely knew this dog - I was staying with my brother for a few days and hadn't paid her much attention other than the usual meet & greet when I came in. She still knew that I was part of the family, though, and that my old friend was not.

My friend has a pit bull that is probably the best trained dog I've ever known. He's very powerful, 100lbs of dog muscle. Sweet as a baby, unless you threaten his owner in any way.
I watched this dog protect my friend instinctively one day waiting at the bus stop. He would position himself between anyone that passed by and my friend, and always watched anyone that was even remotely close. The dog also has been trained to sit at my friends side any time children or other dogs come near, which he did, remarkably, as a little girl got close.
Anyway, this dog is great, but he is super strong, and always working his mouth, chewing. All it would take is one snap of that jaw to break an arm, or rip out a neck. As sweet as the dog is, I would never completely trust him to not freak out and attack someone.
