There was a robbery a few years ago where 40 bandits attacked and stopped a train in India. Onboard was a gurkha on his way home.
He did not have a gun.
He stopped the robbery.

There are tens of thousand of applicants every year for the British Gurkha brigade, and the British choose only about 250 of em. They choose only the the best, and spend almost a year training em.

United states army also keeps hired Gurkhas as sentries for their naval base in Bahrain and they're commonly invited to tag along in day to day operations in the area.

Gurkhas are like modern day spartans, they're given their first knife the day they can walk so it's no wonder they're welcomed in to any army they wish to join

that's 14.3 rounds per sand person... not even including the 17 grenades etc.
and he left his knife at home?

sounds more like Gomer Pyle imo.

i like how they leave out why he was left there alone.

I don't remember how many rounds the average infantry grunt has to fire to score one kill.. But the number is high very high over a thousand.

15 yards is like shooting across a large room.
i bet a person with NO TRAINING AT ALL could score a hit in fewer than 10 rounds.

i can't say that i know how adrenaline etc would figure in, but cmon. seriously.

... and still that is not accounting for the 17 grenades!
this guy should get a demotion not a prize.

... and [again] wtf are his "buddies" that left him there alone?
maybe they took his banana knife to pawn for kindbud?

The one that saved the girl and stopped a train robbery was on his way home for retirement... he was honored by the govt and his unit recalled him so they could promote him... 1 man with a knife versus 40ish thieves, all to protect a girl.

Take the money big deal... take the laptops they are only possesions... despoil the girl in front of a crowd and her parents oh Hel... no.

thanks for posting this article, i assumed it was just BS.
... and clearly it pretty much is BS.

what right minded person would not intervene in a rape that is about
to happen right in front of them? apparently, you want me to believe that only a
Super-Gurkha can do this. i think not.

the guy admits that he wouldn't have done this if he didn't have his SUPER MAGICAL BANANA KNIFE.

“I am proud to be able to prove that a Gorkha soldier with a khukuri is really a handful. I would have been a meek spectator had I not carried that khukuri,” he said.

try that shit on any train in NYC and see where that gets ya.

sorry, but i'm still far from impressed.

I was actually wrong, way off.. In Vietnam it was about 30 000 rounds for one kill some places say 50 000.. Current wars it's higher.

Has to do with not seeing the enemy, also shooting someone a few hundred meters away with a elevated heart rate while trying to minimize your own exposure to enemy fire is pretty damn tricky..

Snipers have a lot higher kill ratio.

So our Nepalese friend was pretty damn accurate by conventional standards.

The U.S. Army did a study after WWII and they found out that a majority of soldiers didn't actually aim at anything just shoot randomly. Which was why they searched for a replacement of the M1 Garand.

Unlike German soldiers who actually aimed and hit because they knew that they would be sent off to fetch back the fired bullet if it did not go to effect. grin

No that's statistics from your war in Vietnam, so it's Americans who knows it takes that many bullets to kill one enemy.

Heavily outnumbered. Under sustained attack from multiple directions by enemies using multiple weapon platforms. Some targets were utilizing cover while others were moving. And do not forget: This happened at night. It was DARK out.
Keep this in mind as well: Often times it simply takes many rounds to neutralize or kill a person, even if they are not equipped with any substantial protective equipment. I've worked with two guys who sustained 5+ gunshot wounds throughout the course of an engagement, but managed to continued fighting until the engagement was resolved. One of them sustained 3 gunshot wounds to the right side of his chest. He developed an intense hemothorax and had 1.5 liters of blood drained from his chest. Both are alive today.
14.3 rounds per enemy, 17 grenades (several of which were phosphorous), a claymore (which is directional), and topped off with a tripod beatdown? Believe it or not, that is efficiency and fortitude by the any standard in any fighting unit in modern warfare under those conditions. At night. It ain't Call of Duty.
