I'm looking for a replacement for my GT6800

The card would need to be AGP I don't have a PC express slot on this computer looking for 256mb 350mhz or better

I checked newegg but they don't seem to sell the GT6800 anymore I saw a 5500FX but I don't know how well that would work for gameing.

It only needs to play games from 2000-2004 so it dosen't need to be uber or anything just workable.

This computer only has 1gig of ram as it is.

Was just wondering if there was a place that sold old as dirt crap.... Kinda want to keep this old clunker going for web browseing while on my other computer or playing D2 and my emulators.

Sadly I can't seem to get many of these old games to work under win7 so I'd like to keep the XP machine going. Just need a new gfx card for it now.. Don't even know how the other one croaked got a 64mb card it in now and it's so slow.

Geforce 440mx

Stay away from FX. Otherwise thre are enough cards to choose from, both on Newegg and TigerDirect.

can't upgrade much from a 6800gt with AGP. That's what I used in my old comp up until about 3 years ago or so.

might be able to find something on craigslist or ebay...Don't pay much for anything though, they can't be worth more than $30 or so on the "high" end I wouldn't think.

Found a visiontek 3450 512meg 8x agp card at tigerdirect it'll be here next week thanks for the help the links were helpfull

yes it's an old computer happy

I game on an I7-920 this one is just for the internet and maybe the occasional game of D2/Oni plus my emulators seems to run better under XP then Win7 and seem to work better on that computer then on the newer one.

The monitor is 4:3 which helps for some things vs my 16:9 on the newer computer so it fills the screen better for games that don't support wide screen as well so there are a few reasons to use it still.

Thanks again

if you have a local store like MicroCenter or Fry's, you can easily find a 'cheap' AGP card that'll get you running again.

problem is, AGP is pretty expensive compared to PCI-E due to limited supply.

still, sometimes it's worth more to get a machine running with 1 expensive part rather than updating the whole thing.

Was $60 vs $200-$300 for a new computer plus I don't need to worry about re-installing my software again computers in Canada are more expensive then in the US. Tho with the dollar being on par that shouldn't be the case, but it still is. sad I blame Mithan he should use his clout as VN Admin to get cheap prices for all the Canadian board members.
