I'm also in a between category. Like if I leave it at home on the way to school, I am compelled to turn around and go back and get it as long as I'm not past the halfway point. When I do have it with me, it's perfectly happy in my pocket and I'll only check it on breaks or between classes. If it's a boring class, I do play bejeweled on it a lot though.

No problems putting it down, or even ignoring some of the rings and messages. Not big on texting.

Nope.

I have a teenage cousin that will sit in the corner alone tapping on the thing from the beginning to the end of family gatherings. I feel really bad for her, one day she'll look up from her phone and the entire world will have passed by sad

I also think it's hilarious when people trip or walk into things while texting laugh
I'd never want to be that guy.

It's useful and convenient, but more often than not I find myself hating the thing. I would really like to turn it off, but then a number of people would be like 'OMG WHER R U'

However, I would have two problems with getting rid of it:

1. I'd have to buy an actual alarm clock
2. I'd have NOTHING to do while crapping at work.

I mean, I use it all day everyday for the most part. But I am also perfectly fine leaving it at home for a day, I won't even think twice about it.

I also was cellphone-less for the entire summer.

No, but my cell phone is provisioned by my employer and has enterprise email, and a chat client on it along with a couple apps I can use while on call and away from my PC. I always have my phone with me to check work email or attend conference calls while I'm not at my desk at work.

I don't text and I don't like talking on the phone so I don't normally call people on it unless it is work related.

No, not a big fan of smart phones though in my profession I require one. I have it and I can do everything I need with it (email, remote into servers, sniff wifi, etc) but it is just a tool to me, nothing else.

Same here. Everyone gets pissed that I have my ringer turned off my main phone. (Nothing worse sleeping days and getting woken up by sales calls, dr.s offices etc.) I also leave my cell phone turned off because the battery lasts forever then :P

One time work was bitching to my nephew (who also works here) that they were going to give me the day off but couldn't get a hold of me. My nephew got on skype and left me the message there since he knows I sit at the computer to drink my coffee before work. grin
