I started eating these organic food bars. ingredients are listed as : Almonds, raisins, sesame seeds, Agave nectar, sunflower seeds, brown rice syrup, pumpkin seeds, whole grain brown rice crsps, and it says may countain tree nuts and soy. I keep hearing mixed things about Soy. I hear it gives you estrogen, and I don't need to pack up on some man boobs so should i steer clear of these?

Usually if it says "may contain" it means they're either swapping out a rare/expensive but useless ingredient they ran out of, or it was made in the same factory/on the same equipment as those other ingredients and don't want to kill anyone allergic. I think you should find something else to blame your manboobs or vagina on.

All the anti-soy stuff is hype. Soy is fine. There's a lot of evidence that it is actually very good for your health. Unless you're consuming a TON of soy, you're not going to notice anything. I don't seek it out, but I also do not avoid it. IMO, regardless of what kind of diet your on there are better protein choices. Soy is quite cheap though..

A little soy is good for you. Although I think it's an abomination the way Americans use soy.

soy is one of the most processed foods known to man. isnt the idea of organic foods to be natural and unprocessed by chemicals? article posted: Direct solvent extraction, referred to as "full" pressing or prepress-solvent extraction, can separate oil from soybeans. Some crushing industries combine these extraction methods to maximize oil extraction and its quality. Solvent extraction is the most widely used method for oil extraction in the Western world. However, mechanical extraction is often preferred by small extraction plants throughout the world to remove the oil.
http://www.nsrl.uiuc.edu/aboutsoy/soyprocessing.html mmmmm solvent wiki posted: To produce soybean oil, the soybeans are cracked, adjusted for moisture content, heated to between 60 and 88ºC (140-190°F), rolled into flakes, and solvent-extracted with hexanes. The oil is then refined, blended for different applications, and sometimes hydrogenated. Soybean oils, both liquid and partially hydrogenated are sold as "vegetable oil," or are ingredients in a wide variety of processed foods. Most of the remaining residue (soybean meal) is used as animal feed.

That's soybean oil. Pretty much all vegetable oils besides olive oil are heavily processed in the same manner.

Yukishiro1 posted: That's soybean oil. Pretty much all vegetable oils besides olive oil are heavily processed in the same manner.
wiki posted: Soy flour refers to defatted soybeans ground finely enough to pass through a 100-mesh or smaller screen where special care was taken during desolventizing (not toasted) to minimize denaturation of the protein to retain a high Protein Dispersibility Index (PDI), for uses such as extruder cooking of textured vegetable protein. It is the starting material for production of soy concentrate and soy protein isolate.
defatted means post solvent processing. one article i read said soybean oil is whats used in further processing to get the rest of the common soy products. so after its treated with solvent and turned into oil, the oil is then shipped off to be reprocessed into more deliciously artificial crap.
