	Title says it all. I need a new set of headphones. I prefer noise cancelling for planes and other busy areas. Willing to spend about $250.00. I like over the ear headphones, not earbuds. 	Bose Quiet Comfort 15 Best noise-cancelling headphones I've ever experienced. Literally flip the switch and the outside world is 110% silent. 	100 dollar noise cancelling headphones are enough for me. it's enough noise dampening so you don't have to destroy your hearing like the millions of people seem to be doing these days. honestly what is the premier hearing aid company, i want to invest. i don't want to be totally deaf to the world either, I live in the city and hearing things is important. -----signature----- (none)

	Thanks Nerf, I'm eyeballing them. They sound pretty good my only concern is the Isolation and noisy environments...Trains, Planes, roommates having sex...you know. 	If you go on that Head Fi site, most of the people there crap all over Bose, Skullcandies and Beats headphones. 	ATH-M50s are a great "starter" set. They're very good headphones....most of the people on that site will recommend these to beginners. At some point good headphones won't mean much though, you also must consider the source. That's just as important if not more important. What kind of audio files are you going to listen to? 	MP3s, and AVIs mainly My ipod touch when I'm travelling, or my ipad2. Comp has a dedicated Dolby 5.1 Surround Card. Mainly it's just music and gaming sitting here when I don't want to disturb people, but videos I watch from my bed and I'd need a 15ft headphone cord to manage that So generally I don't use headsets for the computer, just travelling, the train in the morning and getting home. I can find the ATH-M50 for $250.00, the M-80 for $189.00... The noise canceling will not be fantastic but probably good enough. Ask around on Head Fi if you want headphones that specifically cancel out every bit of noise. MP3's are compressed audio files, they sacrifice audio quality for smaller size. 	After listening to other headphones I wouldn't recommend the ATH-M50. Its funny because Cao as asking me about them the other night while like normal I was reading Head-fi and at the time she asked I was reading this post and MalVeauX sums it up nicely. http://www.head-fi.org/t/598098/fiio-e10-ath-m50-worth-it#post_8179885 MalVeauX posted: Heya, If your source material is already flawless and of high quality, then nothing will change beyond the headphone. To me, the M50 are not worth much, but they are built like tanks, making them useful as a portable or truly used as an event DJ headphone. Pretty much bunk to me for home casual listening. I would regroup your budget, get rid of the M50, and prepare for a serious headphone purchase (and include a Fiio E10 perhaps to get off your laptop's audio solution too). Form a budget. They had a price inflation a while ago. If you haven't already you might look at apple lossless file format or setting up itunes so it rips your cd's at 320kbps to use with your touch. for listening at home id download Foobar2000 and google "Foobar200 rip flac" posted: FLAC stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec, an audio format similar to MP3, but lossless, meaning that audio is compressed in FLAC without any loss in quality. This is similar to how Zip works, except with FLAC you will get much better compression because it is designed specifically for audio, and you can play back compressed FLAC files in your favorite player (or your car or home stereo, see supported devices) just like you would an MP3 file. I buy CD's all the time now and purchase alot of music off of https://www.hdtracks.com/ Ill only use itunes or amazon if its a single song and I cant get it in higher quality. Edit: Also I forget what VNboards policy is with deals threads so Ill let you find it since Head-fi has a very nice user friendly search option that works. (unlike a outdated forum we all post on). Just search 'The Deals Thread' and start camping. electronic expo had open box Denon AH-d5000's for $320ish a week or two ago. youv already set a limit on what your gonna spend might at least look at what higher headphones have to offer. 	My last pair was 'on ear' and personally I liked it. It was noise cancelling but wasn't the greatest. Never had 'over the ear' phones, not terribly sure I like that style. Might love it though. I hate the earbuds because I find them very uncomfortable and they hurt my ears after a few minutes, not even hours, or listening. The on ear ones I had....my ears get tired around the 6-8hour mark. Then again it was just some random Sony ****** pair I bought for $100.00 at a local shop. Was looking to upgrade. Thanks again Nerf, I'll check out that site and that recommendation. Amazon has the M-80 delivered to my doorstep in 1-3 days for 200.00 with shipping. Still within my budget, and another big seller for me is the flexibility of the head set.
