Had a gun pulled out twice in my cab in two days

Which is strange because I've driven almost 4 years and never had it happen before. One guy I took to the gun shop and he was picking up what he called the most accurate handgun for competition shooting. The other guy I had been warned that he might wanna go shooting out in the woods by the night driver who referred me to him. We're sitting at his doctor's office and he was like "Don't freak out" and pulled out his 9mm, and emptied the clip and chamber and left gun in cab while he went in. I drove him all around town that day and he called me the next morning to go shooting. We drove way outside of town to BLM land and blew off rounds for about 2 hours. He was like "You and I are some crazy mfers, here I am shooting my new gun with a stranger in the woods, and you a taxi driver agreeing to this." What other job can you get $310 to drive a guy shopping, to the doctor, and go plinking on his dime?

Did he let you shoot his gun? Otherwise this sounds pretty awful.

Yeah, I shot the gun. We brought a bunch of water bottles, a 2X4 and candles to shoot at. He used to drive, but has problem with his ankle. He also said he usually goes to the doctor twice a month and does his shopping on those trips and it costs him around the same as owning a car. He lives in a big house in the south hills, a ritzy area of Eugene.

I had considered that. I figure the GPS data stored at dispatch of me picking him up at his house and driving out to McGowan Creek Rd, an area known for shooting would cover that.

Another strange tidbit, maybe you can fit this into your conspiracy theory. He brought a mini-cassette recorder and recorded us shooting. He said he wanted to put the sound of emptying the clip on his answering machine.

Grats on being set up.
Actually it isn't that easy to pull useful prints off a weapon you've been firing. Only about one in ten discharged weapons will have a usable print left on it.
When you discharge the weapon the vibration ruins every single print you're leaving. It's handling the weapon after firing it that leaves usable prints. The grips tend to be the best place to find usable prints, and they tend to have textured or striated surfaces that prevent you from leaving prints in the first place. Proper weapon handling (ie, finger off the trigger unless you're actually shooting) doesn't leave much on the trigger to work with either.
This bit of useless trivia brought to you by the number 9, and the letter M.

Actually, I must disagree here. I used to teach fingerprinting after I took a rather insane level of interest in the topic. I used to carry a feather in my kit for demo purposes. I would also have people pull prints from textured surfaces. The trick? "Diff Lift" tape. It is like 20x thicker than standard tape and gets into the areas that normal tape will not reach. I will provide a link that some of you coppers of the OP will really enjoy. If you work crime scenes (or hope to) there is a TON of good info here. http://www.csigizmos.com/products/latentdevelopment/difflift.html As an added bonus, I suggest the "I Talk" course from MCTC (sorry, cops only from what I can tell): http://www.counterdrugtraining.com/default.aspx?AspxAutoDetectCookieSupport=1 FWIW, in a classroom environment I was able to recover a print from a cinder block.

Besides, note that I didn't say it was impossible to get prints off a gun, clearly it is not. It's just a bit more difficult than was being implied.
