some dude posted:
While most economists have stopped worrying that the U.S. will fall into a double-dip recession, one influential economist maintains his position that the nation won't be able to avoid a new downturn.

OH MY GAWD!!!!!

In other news, keep praying Bjorvald and maybe God will answer your prayers for another recession.

"ECRI is one of the more widely respected firms on economic recessions, as it has never been wrong when forecasting that a recession would start,"

It's ok Yuki, reading is hard.

Then it must be right!!11111

P.S. Jose Mourinho (inb4 Jose who?) didn't lose a single home game in more than 150+ games and 7+ years as a coach with 4 different teams. Not a single one. It was the most remarkable record in the history of sports coaching.

Then he lost one.

Shocking, I know.

Pretty much every estimate I have seen assumes some sort of dip. Even if an economist is not predicting a recession they may be predicting something close to one.

I think it is hard to argue that things are not looking better as of late. It is also hard to argue that there are not serious risks that could lead to a second recession. I also don't know any economists predicting that strong growth is likely.

I would also point out that many economists who are bearish are that way because they fear the impact of austerity measures.

Liverpool is just starting to look a little bit alive. I heard a rumor Andy Carroll even scored sometime in the last month? I would have to see it with my own eyes to believe it, though...

For the majority of Americans, the last recession never ended.

He is just predicting an 'official' double-dip.

For the person who's been out of work for 2 years, the difference between .5% growth and .5% contraction isn't much.

laugh laugh

do a google search for ECRI forecast.

Every few months they flip from 'No recession in sight' to 'recession tomorrow!'.

They called for a recession in 2010 and 2011.

In Nov 2007 they announced that in spite of the ongoing economic turbulence there was no recessionary weakness. They called the '2008' recession in March 2008. Unfortunately the recession started in Dec 2007.

"it has never been wrong when forecasting that a recession would start" ... That is more than a little misleading they have predicted exactly two recessions and have been wrong about the direction the economy is taking many times.
