Subject: What would the process be to hand an account over to someone else?

I was asked a question the steps to pass an account permanently from one person to another. I'm not talking selling or anything else unsightly. I'm just asking how it's done.

It seems straightforward, but I am interested in making sure the change is done correctly so there's no grief down the road.

What I think would happen would be to:

> Log into account, remove the CC information and unsub it. Then make the change to the contact information and change the email and password information. Log out.

> Pass the authenticator over (Let's assume there's an authenticator on the account)

> Allow the new person to log in with the new user/pass credentials and authenticator. They can re-sub using their own CC information.

Is this all correct? Blizzard would no longer have a record of the first CC number? The transfer I assume would be done toward the end of a billing cycle.

TIA

That would pretty much be it.

You might want to call and confirm your secret question/word though too. In case the account was tehH4xx0red!

I would make sure there is one on it and then pass the authenticator over that step would likely alleviate any suspicion by Blizzard the account was stolen.

If their fraud department is any good (and lets assume that they are better than the retards responsible for game design), those changes happening all at once might trigger an account flag that will be escalated to a human, at which point it's up to them if they want to enforce the TOS.

Chances are high that once the new person logs in from a different location and resubs with a different cc, with a different name and billing zip, that some flags are going to be thrown.

Not if you wait a day or two. I also doubt you can change the name on the account.

I had a friend in New Zealand using my account often while I wasn't playing.

I'm in Canada, so they don't ban for that, not in the last year anyways. You just get an email the first time it happens then you log in and "confirm" or whatever that you haven't been hacked and away you go.

I can not go out of town on a business trip (which happens at least once every two weeks, if not multiple times a week) without them locking my account "due to suspicious activity". Yes, I have an authenticator on my keychain.

Once I had to get them on the phone to reset my password (apparently their system did not like sending emails to AOL on that given day ) and after that was successful, not even an hour later I got banned for exploitative something or another (which was successfully appealed) but it took two days for it to get resolved.

So if I have such difficulties with just traveling and playing, to say that there is no chance of getting banned for handing off an account to someone else in another location who pays with a different credit card with a different billing zip code is probably wishful thinking at the best. It may be unlikely, but the chance is still there.

Both my current accounts were initially someone else's... 1st was my brothers original account (so same surname), 2nd was a friend of mine's who declared he would NEVER play again (and is now my main account). I also changed the payment details on my brothers account to pay for him (and log into it occasionally from a different address).

I travel regularly (in the 18 months i've logged in from Brazil, Caribbean and Australia as well as 3/4 countries in Europe)...

I have also had large amounts of Gold exchanged with me... I've given gold away and had friends give me gold when they stopped playing (20k+).

All this and I have NEVER... EVER... WHATSOEVER... had an email, call or account suspension from Blizzard.

Personally, I put it primarily down apathy! But, I don't doubt that it is easier to deal with the hundreds/thousands of account retrieval requests then the potentially hundred's of thousands of 'unusual' activity blips that they would have on a regular basis.

Change the details as you mention and i would bet you won't hear anything on it again.

I can't go from one side of Ohio to the other without having to change my PW and such sad If I logged in a foreign country, I would probably have to show up at Blizzard in person to get my account unlocked lol.

They do allow account transfers under certain situations. Like a minor coming of age. /shrug It's that way for an adult and a minor, if a minor wants to transfer their character off mommy and daddy's account to their own, they allow that, same last name, different first name, etc. Or since the account info has to be "controlled" by an adult, once a child reaches of age, they can have the account info updated to reflect that. I did some serious reading into that way back when, it might have changed.
