No, they posted messages about it on twitter, facebook, and probably elsewhere. Server is just getting hammered right now so the signup server is going bonkers. Likely the image to the link for the beta from the main page is being served from the beta page, so when the beta server goes down, it looks like the link disappears.

A beta is also a good way to see how serious the developer is about improving the game. If they don't make any major changes during beta based on feedback it's a good clue they're not going to do so once the game goes live either, at least not until the game is failing.
And a good way to see if a game is really going to be ready to buy at launch or not. If the beta is a total disaster it's a good clue it might be good to wait 6 months. Although this is less of a concern with a game like GW2 that doesn't have subscription fees.

His constant bragging, screaming in guild, talking about "raping", "fags", etc., etc. got on my damn nerves. Then he acted like he was the only one doing stuff for the Guild that one night which annoyed me. It took awhile but I finally said screw it and blocked him. If I want that kind of constant talk, I'll group with random XBox players.
Most Outposters I had a great time with though. Even Cabby!

Yeah he didn't really do a lot. Rushed a couple dungeons. But besides giving me all that blinged out armour he didn't really do anything. It helped me help out guildys but he didn't invest a lot time into anyone.

We might be able to get like 15-20 ppl for the outpost but we could get a decent sized guild for a lot of things if we work with everyone else. That way we'd have plenty of people for doing all kinds of things and enough to do pvp with when we want to.

Yeah, some of the old DAoC peeps could be good, we would probably have a leg up in the organization department. A lot of egos though.

Well, if it plays out like it did in Rift, we'll have a lot of characters at the upper levels and a lot at the lower and zero in the middle. So more people probably would not hurt.
I don't care either way though since I plan to only play with Cabby.

With GW, everyone in bumped to 80 for WvWvW and PvP, and in the PvE areas, people who are overleveled for the region are bumped down to an appropriate level for the area. For the WvWvW and PvE, it is still an advantage to be higher level due to better gear, traits and just having more skills unlocked, and PvP puts everyone at a fixed power level. But it shouldn't be a problem having people to play with regardless of level differences.

GW2 has an apprentice system like a lot of games do. The general thrust of the game is to make your level not super important except for end-game pve.

i'm gonna skip the beta since i'm pretty much already sold on the game.
i need to do a rebuild first anyway. just waiting to hear feedback.
as far as other VN ppl, i think we should include them but not ( all of them )
as officers. we should set a OP guild charter/structure. i can set up guild site
and stuff.
