I mean seriously, considering he was the best he got his ass kicked by every single replicant except Rachel!!!

And she had to save his ass from Leon!!!

Isn't the point of the movie that he was outclassed because he was going against the top of the line Nexus models? You know, the android's "A Team"?

BUt that was his job he was supposed to be best at, a-team or not, and how the hell did two hooker bots become a-team at anything but....hookering? Pris and snake dancer lady were hooker bots....errmm Pleasure Models.

I always suspected it was because his heart wasnt into it becasue he had Rachel feelings and was redefining his view of senitnece and humanity but racist cop had him cornered.

Because he was too busy raiding the lost ark while smuggling in the Millennium Falcon!

What a great movie. What a great story. There are some questions that always make you pause and one of them is whether Androids Dream of Electric Sheep.

It's unpossible that someone made a movie that didn't suck out of a Phillip K. Dick novel.

Its funny when a futuristic SciFi movie outdates itself.
Blade Runner is set in 2019, only 7 years from now.
They have flying cars, but their TVs are CRTs and their computers are Commodore 64/Apple II

So in 2019 we have flying cars but we havent advanced to LED technology and anything better than a 8088 microprocessor?

Instead of going from cars to flying cars we are going backwards from cars to bicycles.

Sci-fi writers create a setting that's supposedt to look&feel believable, based on varying degrees of research and educated guesses, but mostly the focus is on the concept and artistic part.

They don't ACTUALLY predict the future.

I imagine the difference between a good blade runner and a bad one is, the bad ones are dead. Decker got his reputation because he had never failed. It may have been ugly, there might have been some long hospital stays, but he always managed to whack the skin-job.

It's in the tradition of all great film noir: the protagonist always doubles as a punching bag.

Deckard being a replicant is one of the dumbest theories ever. The story would have no meaning whatsoever if that were the case.

I'm watching the movie right now. First time I've seen it in years. Not as great as I remember it being...or maybe I'm just in a bad mood.

In the book he is not a replicant.

In the movie, he is.... according to Ridley Scott: http://www.brmovie.com/FAQs/BR_FAQ_Deck-a-Rep.htm

The fact that he was inferior at fighting was what made him heroic. The fact that he put himself in the situation at all is what made him good at his job.

Also, the movie is far superior when you cut out the stupid narration, especially the end part.

Its my #1 movie of all times. Saw it 30+ times, and each
time I find something I missed previously

Rutger Hauer is seriously underrated by Hollywood

Commodore 64 and Apple 2 use Mostek 6502, not Intel 8088

Rutger Hauer was awesome in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, no idea why he wasn't nominated.

Yeah, I watched an entire featurette on the recent final cut edition that was all about this. It's a cool idea but it's not interesting beyond its value as a oOOoo twist. If Deckard's a robot, Blatty's final speech and that acne-scarred dude from Battlestar Galactica's final line are rendered completely meaningless. When Deckard gets into the elevator with Rachel at the end, he's effectively tendering his resignation. He's done with his non-life, and is ready to actually live. The theatrical cut actually ends with them driving away into a beautiful countryside, which was a little over-the-top but apparently it's still needed to drive the message home.

That was pretty damned awesome considering when the movie was made.
