Boards Archive] |
Welcome to the Vault Network
forum archive.
This is not a complete archive, time didn't allot us the
opportunity to properly backup the majority of the boards
deemed "expendable". Most boards on this list have at least
20-40 pages archived (non-logged in pages, 15 topics per
page).
Popular boards may have as many as 250 pages archived at 50
topics per page, while others deemed of historical
signifigance may be archived in their entirety.
We may not agree with how the board shutdown was managed, but
we've done what we could to preserve some of its history in
lieu of that.
Please enjoy the archive.

ESPN has fired the employee responsible for writing an offensive headline about basketball sensation Jeremy Lin and suspended an anchor who used the same ethnic slur, the sports network said Sunday. The headline read "Chink in the Armor," referencing the New York Knicks' 89- 85 loss Friday night to the New Orleans Hornets that ended the team's season-high winning streak. It also apologized for a question ESPN anchor Max Bretos asked Wednesday night: "If there is a chink in the armor, where can Lin improve his game?" ... ESPN said the writer of the headline that appeared on the network's mobile website has been dismissed. Bretos has been suspended for 30 days. The radio commentator was not an ESPN employee. http://www.cnn.com/2012/02/19/sport/espn-lin-slur/index.html

This guy in Orange County just sued a restaurant because he noticed racial slurs on his receipts. He saw one and went to look at the ones in his records and sure enough they had been doing it all along. Mr. Cotton Picker, Stinky McN###er, Uncle Tom, etc. Lots of receipts, all sorts of racist slurs. The guy had been going to the place for two years. They paid the suit and fired the bartender. The bartender even called the guy and said, "Hey, you know I was just kidding, right?"

While I'm glad they fired the individuals involved, I'm not sure what the basis is for a lawsuit. There was a similar story a few weeks ago: http://abcnews.go.com/blogs/headlines/2012/01/papa-johns-employee-calls-woman-lady-chinky-eyes-on-receipt/
