Answer = President Obama was in Milwaukee yesterday, trumpetting Masterlock that brought 100 workers back from overseas, and proclaimed the need to rebuild our manufacturing base. This is in a state that will not allow the development of a new iron mine that would bring 20,000 jobs to the state and produce the iron ore needed by companies like Masterlock to produce their product. On top of that, what is the result for manufacturers when the President blocks a project like the Keystone pipeline... other than higher costs for importing the raw materials (since they can't access the natural resources near them), and higher costs to get their product to market.

... it begs the thought, does the President understand that Manufacturing typically requires natural resources?

The Keystone pipeline is going to be approved. Just one section that currently would go over key aquifers needs to either be rerouted or have a study done to show it won't harm the aquifers. Trying to move the timeline for a decision on the pipeline up before either of those steps could be completed was pointless.

Unless you feel like the Midwest doesn't need clean drinking water, then we could just plow ahead as is. grin
