I really pissed a kid off last week.

Was in the kitchen when I remembered this. I was at the grocery store and standing in front of the bulk foods when a kid about 20 came past. He was carrying some personal stuff so I figured he was an employee just getting of work. He asked if I was checking out the bulk foods and I told him yes, I was looking for unsalted nuts. He told me I should buy some smoked sea salt. I smiled and told him thanks, but I don't use salt.
Well, now he stops and tells me it's better than regular salt. I know it's not because you body only knows it's sodium and doesn't care where it comes from, but I didn't tell him that. I just said I don't add salt to anything. He tells me but it's better, go get some! I'm like I don't need it cause I don't use salt. I'm still smiling and being friendly, but he gets pissed and says, "Well don't get any then!" And takes off. I'm standing there thinking, "cracka? It that you?"

And you guys have no idea how many people have told me to use sea salt. Hell, if I no longer have a craving for salt why add anything now? I on rare occasions eat mashed tater or a baked potato or grits or fried eggs. Guess what? I do not add any salt and don't even want it. The taste for salt is completely gone. And when I go to Famous Dave's, done it twice since my stroke, the broccoli is saltier than hell. I am staying away from that place. I can big time taste when someone added any salt at all.

But dude! You forgot to smoke it first! And, I too had read this before and knew it was just as bad as table salt. I just didn't wish to get in that argument with anyone here either. One thing I don't care to do is get in an argument with anyone about my diet because I know what's working for me and don't need anyone to try and confuse the issue for me any more.

Yeah salt is pretty much only for flavor, you should get enough of it without adding any. Good for you, personally I eat everything with 50% salt.

I've read it take 2 weeks to completely rid yourself of the taste for salt, but that's not true. I ate grits 2 months after I quit salt and I had to add some. I don't now though. But for a while I really wanted it for grits and mashed or baked taters. Not even think about adding it now. I would say more like 6 months.
