Austerity is stupid, the only people it helps are the bankers who were stupid enough to lend money to people who can't pay it back. I hope the Greek people kill every politician who voted for such stupidity, and eat breakfast off their corpses chests.

Austerity = deflation, which was the original problem. It's an ugly spiral.

Problem is they are broke because they spent themselves into a hole that they cannot climb out of. The US is going to have the same problem if they don't get spending under control soon.

Not at all, for an economy the size of the United States 15 trillion isn't especially bad. Japan has a debt that is almost 200% of their GDP (we are at 110%).. Of course the debt is still increasing at a rate which is unacceptable in the long run.

Stop believing the GOP mantra of no tax increases and take the horse blinders off. We need to raise our taxes back to pre 2005 levels, before Bush decided it was a good idea to cut taxes in the middle of two wars.

Seeking to reduce taxes and not paying the ones that are owed are two different things. Greeks are notorious tax dodgers, so if people won't pay the taxes they owe, what other alternative is there but to reduce spending?

I spent some time deployed there in the Navy, and I asked why all the unfinished homes and was told that they dont pay taxes on it until the house is completed.

Oregano will help save the world from global warming. ...Alexander Hristov, assistant professor of dairy nutrition at Penn State, spent six years in his lab trying various natural methods to cut cows' methane belches. Eventually, oregano surfaced as the most effective methane suppressant. Hristov then took oregano into the field, "and we saw the same effect there," he says, cutting the cows' emissions by 40 percent. Decreasing methane production in dairy cows, the type Hristov worked with, also increases their milk production. "Methane is an energy loss to the animal, and if you reduce methane production, there is energy available for the animal" to make milk, he explains. The advantage of oregano: If Hristov's team can isolate the compound inside the oregano and synthesize it in the lab, it'll be very cheap. "I don't think just feeding oregano to nine million cows in the U.S. is going to be very cost-effective," he says. But if we could--or if Hristov gets an oregano supplement to market--the U.S. would cut its cattle methane emissions by 2.2 million tons....
