Subject: Removing Scar Tissue?
I've got a small batch of scar tissue I want to remove due to its location; causes pain/irritation from being rubbed accidentally.

Would this be a surgical thing? I guess I need a dermatologist for this?

Anyone have any experience?

Thank-you,

It's probably the animal fur that irritates it.

depends. research needling scars. essentially you're going to just be promoting new tissue formation.

if you find anything worth while for moderate hypertrophic scarring let me know

scars continue to lay down new tissue and break down old scar tissue for 2 years after it originally healed.

Things that help break up scar tissue as it heals are, silicone bandaids (they're for scars), ultrasound therapy, and massage.

but be careful with massage, you don't want to "erase" the scar", but massage lightly in small circles over the scar, pulling it slightly in all directions.

you can also have it cut out, and try over again, if it's more than 2 years old. They might also have better laser options now.

silicone is the most pain in the ass treatment invented. if you ever sweat, good luck keeping it on. I had 0 success with those things.

I had one of these, apparently being type A+ blood makes it way more likely to have this happen. They had to cut the scar out and all the scar tissue and start over again. They injected some special steroid into the cut right after pulling it all back together, it actually worked too well, and I ended up with too little skin to support he scar and it widened anyway.

I think they said that something like 50% of Hypertrophic scars will return if you have them removed and start over again, if it happens twice the chances of getting a flat scar by trying a third time are much worse.

if your scar is still less than 2 years old, try this stuff, it will stay on as long as you don't rub it too much.

I have some, but because they made my scar the opposite, it wouldn't be effective.

its probably just tubed up silicone with an emphasis on medical--like there's a giant difference anyway

but yeah thanks for link, my hypertrophics have been around ~8 years now. surprisingly, for the extent of the damage done, they have faded quite nicely.

the scar on my hand from my halloween cheese slicing incident healed to a nice thin line, but it was so deep that the scar tissue below is hard and extremely tender still. I started doing the massage on it every couple of days and the amount and tenderness have gone down considerably. it's also laying a bit flatter and not nearly as tight when I extend my hand fully (jazz hands style)

It's several years old, actually have no idea how it formed... it's been there for as long as I can remember. It's basically a half ring of raised tissue in small locations, sort of like the scales.

I'm thinking of having the skin cut off, then cauterized, so that the skin is even and smooth. They did that my neck to remove a mole...

As for the location... TMI... it's located at the base of my penis, top half... It forms a "C" Shaped ring where the shaft meets/is overlapped by my fat rolls... and before you ask, yes I've had it looked at by multiple doctors, and it's not an STD (Thankfully).

If I do have it cut off like that I'll look into the Silicone Bandages, so that it doesn't reform more of this unwanted scar tissue.

Thanks =)

You have issues with your self-image... because of a small scar near your junk? Nothing else that particularly stands out that makes you feel self-conscious?

Seriously?

It's not an issue with self image; it's an issue with usability. It's a pain in the ass trying to use an electric razor down there; and even a regular razor means that I have to be extremely cautious

Ask your dermatologist about cold laser. It's newest, latest, and greatest in technology and it's noninvasive. Warning though...take the extra time and receive LED cold laser and NOT infrared.

If it's questionable and you want to comment on the subject, here's an easy one...go research it like I did.

it's a surgical thing. specifically plastic surgery. i've had to have several scars "removed" because they attached themselves to bone and endlessly resulted in huge blisters and pain. i obviously still have scars they just aren't what they used to be and are much smaller.
